chapter one

Elizabeth walked into the large building that was located in the middle of London. The same building that she had walked into for the past year and yet, she never grew tired of it. She loved her job very much, she couldn't imagine her life any other way.

"Elizabeth!" Phil, who worked at the front desk called. Every single day that Elizabeth walked through the door, Phil would be sat at his desk and would greet her.

"Hello Phil. Lovely weather we're having." Elizabeth smiled while walking towards his desk.

"If clouds and possible showers are your definition of lovely, then yes." He joked. "Anyways, Mrs. Lawrence wants to see you in her office. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you come out alive."

"Kill me now." She groaned. Mrs. Lawrence was Elizabeth's boss, Elizabeth and Mrs. Lawrence weren't exactly fond of each other but they made it work.

Elizabeth walked into the empty elevator and pressed the button for the top floor where Mrs. Lawrence's office was. She wondered why Mrs. Lawrence wanted to talk to her, was it important? Was she fired?

"Morning Elizabeth." One of her co-workers greeted her as the elevator doors opened.

"Morning Taylor." She greeted back. She walked to the end of the hallway, the echo of her heels against the floor could be hear throughout the hall.

Once Elizabeth reached Mrs. Lawrence's office, she knocked on the door before entering. "You wanted to see me?" She asked.

"Indeed, please take a seat." Mrs. Lawrence insisted. Elizabeth did as told and took a seat across from her boss and waited for her to carry on.

"So, why exactly was I called here?" She asked. "Not that I'm not happy but I was just wondering because you never call me in."

"Ms. Green, you and I both know that we aren't exactly friends and we don't like each other but I do like you as one of my workers. You have a lot of potential and I want to see your potential put to work. The articles you've done in the past have been excellent, they're actually some of the best articles I've read." Mrs. Lawrence explained.

"Thank you, that means a lot." Elizabeth smiled at her compliment.

"So I have a new project for you, a new article to write. I know I haven't given you a ton of projects in the past but that was because I was waiting for the right time, and that time is now."

"Really? I haven't gotten one in a few months, thank you." Elizabeth was shocked to say the least. While everyone else was getting new material to work with, Elizabeth was left with nothing to write about.

"You're the youngest worker here so I thought that this was the best job for you." She explained. "You are going to writing an article about a famous boy band, they go by the name of One Direction. They will be coming in tomorrow to meet with you, you will then tell them how you want the interview and when. You will interview them all individually and then together, I want a good article so make it good. I want the inside scoop, I want to know every little thing." She explained.

"And that's exactly what you will get, I promise." Elizabeth assured. How hard could it be to interview a boy band? Elizabeth had this in the bag, she knew this was her chance to get on Mrs. Lawrence's good side.

"I'm counting on you and I'm looking forward to reading it. If this article isn't amazing then you may not be getting any new material for a while." She warned.

"I won't let you down, I promise." Elizabeth shook her head. Elizabeth knew that she was capable of writing a new article and she wouldn't let her boss down.

"You are excused, I want the article done and on my desk in two weeks."

Elizabeth left her office with a smile on her face, she hadn't gotten material to write a new article in months. This article could be the turning point in her career, this could take her to a new level. This day couldn't get any better for her and nothing could ruin it.

She walked towards her office that was only a few rooms down from Mrs. Lawrence's and shut the door.

"Better look up these kids." Elizabeth mumbled to herself. She dropped her handbag on the floor and logged onto her computer. She went straight to google and typed in 'One Direction', thousands of links showed up immediately.

These boys were no kids, they were her age and some were older. She was expecting a group of teenagers but she presumed wrong. Of course she knew about them, who didn't know about them at this point but she wasn't expecting them to be like this.

"Woah, they're cute." She said to herself. Elizabeth shook her head and grabbed her notebook and a pencil and started to jot down notes about them.

What would she ask the boys once they arrived, she didn't want to get too into their personal lives but she knew she had to.

"I want the inside scoop, I want to know every little thing." Mrs. Lawrence's words repeated in her head. Elizabeth didn't want to be rude to the boys but she knew she had to get the details out of them, so how would she do it?

She hadn't interview anyone in awhile, maybe a few months. She use to be amazing at gathering questions but now, she had lost all her skill and was clueless. She didn't even know where to start or how.

-

When Elizabeth's lunch break had arrived, she didn't have a single question down. Over the course of two hours, which was mainly spent reminiscing on past interviews, she had gotten nothing down.

"Lizzy, you know you can come out for lunch now." Zara - her co-worker and the only friend she had around here, entered her office.

"I refuse to come out until I have at least three questions down." Elizabeth announced while rubbing her eyes.

"Starving yourself isn't going to help you. Maybe if you got up and walked around, then you might think of something." Zara suggested but Elizabeth wasn't one to listen, even if it were for the best.

"If I leave this office, then there's a chance that I won't be able to focus once I get back. It's best if I just stay." After Elizabeth had spoken, Zara knew that she wouldn't be coming out of her office so she started to leave.

"I'll see you later then." Zara sighed.

"Wait!" Elizabeth called. Zara quickly stopped in her tracks and turned around, hopeful that Elizabeth had changed her mind about lunch.

"Yes?"

"What would you ask a group of famous twenty-year-old guys?" Elizabeth asked. Zara only glared at the tired and frustrated girl.

"You'll think of something, Lizzy. I know you and I know that you're a killer writer, you just need to stop forcing yourself to think. The write questions will just flow right out of your mind." Without another word, Zara left.

"Why must life be so hard?" Elizabeth groaned and slammed her head against her glass desk. She knew that from this point on, it would be a long day for her.
