chapter nine

Today was the last interview of all the individual boys, last but not least was Niall. Elizabeth was actually really looking forward to seeing Niall, she loved his accent and his cheerfulness. He could brighten up anyone's day just by being himself and she could use that today.

As Elizabeth shuffled papers on her desk she thought back to yesterday and what Harry had walked in on. After begging Harry not to tell anyone, Harry agreed and everything went back to normal, but Elizabeth didn't like normal. What Louis and her had was practically nothing, or that's what she told herself.

It felt like she was convincing herself that she didn't have feelings for Louis, but it wasn't working very well. No matter how hard she tried to convince herself, the blue eyed boy always changed her mind. The way they could talk to each other, with such ease and not an awkward moment passed. The way he kissed her and touched her, like she was something so precious to him. But maybe all of that was just in her head, perhaps a fantasy that she had made up.

Elizabeth was scared, since her last relationship had started the same way that Louis' and hers had, she couldn't help but think that she was reliving history. That this was destined to turn out that same way it had in the past and she was scared. It was all fun and games until someone got hurt.

"Uh, Elizabeth?" A familiar Irish accent spoke. Elizabeth broke out of what felt like a trance and looked up at the worried blonde boy. "You were zoned out for a while there, I was getting worried." He laughed it off.

"Sorry, I guess I just have a lot on my mind at the moment." She smiled as Niall sat down with a sigh.

"I would ask but I don't think you want to talk about it." Niall said.

"You're right," Elizabeth rubbed her tired eyes. "Enough about me, how have you been?" She asked sighing.

"I've been good, just chillin around before we get back on tour again." Niall answered. Niall loved touring, more than anything in the world but it was very tiring. With getting up early, going to bed late and the jetlag,  he would always be tired.

"That's good, you want to get all the rest you can before hitting the road again. When do you guys start tour again?" She asked. She couldn't help but hope that there was still time left before the boys went off to tour because she wanted to spend more time with them, with Louis before they'd leave and live their life and probably forget about the random girl who interviewed them.

"In exactly three weeks." Niall answered. Elizabeth was happy that she had more time with the boys but three weeks could go by so fast. Three weeks seemed like three minutes, they would go by so quick and by the she'd know it, they'd be off.

"That seems so soon, I'm gonna miss you guys." Elizabeth spoke truthfully. Even though it had only been a few days, she had grown accustomed of seeing the boys and speaking to them over the phone.

"I bet you'll miss Louis the most." Niall winked. Elizabeth's eyes widened at his words. She thought the only people who knew of Louis and her were Liam, Harry and Louis, but of course there was still one bandmate left.

"They told you didn't they?" Elizabeth rose one of her eyebrows.

"Harry, to be specific." Niall informed. Elizabeth nodded at his response. Now it was official, everyone in the band knew of her and Louis but no one knew what they were. Not even Louis and her knew what they were, everyone was confused about it.

"Of course." She sighed.

"I'm guessing that's why you were so deep in thought earlier, it was about Louis wasn't it?" Niall asked, already knowing the answer. He knew everything, and he knew why Elizabeth was so confused. Niall had been in her shoes before, being confused about where you and someone else stand.

"Yeah, it's just confusing and I don't know what to do." She explained. "But I'm sure you don't want to hear about it so I'll spare you the boredom."

"I don't mind," Niall shook his head. "I actually might be able to help you if I know what's going on, that is if you tell me."

"Have you ever liked someone but have been afraid because you know exactly how everything's going to end?" She expressed. "You're afraid because you don't want to relive something that's happened to you before? Maybe it was heartbreak or maybe a mistake you made, or maybe it was because you didn't fight for someone?"

"Go on." Niall nodded his head.

"You're just scared but you're willing to take the chance. I know how this is gonna end and I know what's going to happen but yet, I don't care." Elizabeth continued. "It's like I'm walking down the same road over and over again, I know where it leads but I don't stop and go back."

"Maybe that's what you need to do." Niall spoke up after a silence. He figured she was done talking and it was now Niall's turn.

"What do you mean?"

"If you know where the road leads then maybe you should change your route." Niall explained. "You need to make changes to make sure that this doesn't end the same way it did last time."

"You're probably right." Elizabeth sighed

"I am?" Niall exclaimed. "I'm never right! I'm always the one in the group that gets roasted in the group chat for being wrong! Wow, what a change. I feel empowered right now, like I can do anything!"

Elizabeth laughed. "Well you're right and you should feel proud of yourself." She nodded. "Anyways, we should start the interview before it gets late."

"You're right. I feel empowered to do an interview."

"You know, you're actually a lot of fun." Niall laughed at something Elizabeth had said. He had been laughing for three minutes now and he wouldn't stop. His laugh was contagious so Elizabeth laughed alongside Niall.

"Thanks, I appreciate it."

"You know, the boys and I are all going to Liam's place tonight to hangout. Liam's girlfriend is back in town too so you should come with, we'd all love to have you there." Niall informed. Elizabeth thought about how much fun she would have with the boys, they were fun guys, how could she say no?

"I don't know, I don't want to barge in on your bonding time with the boys." Elizabeth spoke, unsure. She didn't want to be a burden and walk into the boys bonding time.

"Oh please, I bond with them enough during tour. And plus, we're gonna be gone in three weeks for three months and we won't see you. Please!" Niall pleaded. Elizabeth thought about it for a minute, he had a point. They would be gone for three months and she wouldn't see them maybe ever again, so she agreed.

"Alright, I'll go but we have to make a stop at my flat so I can change." Elizabeth informed. Niall furrowed his eyebrows at her and looked down at her business casual clothes.

"What's wrong with your clothes?"

"They're uncomfortable, I don't know how much longer I can take in these clothes before I rip them off my body and burn them." Elizabeth explained.

"Alright, lets go then!"

-

After throwing her hair into a bun, taking off all of her makeup, changing into black joggers, a grey sweatshirt and some Adidas sneakers--Elizabeth followed Niall in her car as he made his way to Liam's flat. The boys had no idea that Elizabeth was coming so they were in store for a surprise.

She was genuinely looking forward to spending some time with the boys, outside of work. She wanted to actually get to know them better and have them get to know her.

She felt like to the boys, Elizabeth was just a working girl who worked for a popular magazine company and was interviewing them. The only person who knew the real Elizabeth was Louis and today, Elizabeth was determined to show them the real her.

And hopefully, they all liked the real her.
