Lisa pov
As I receive the latest report from my agents, I ran a research on my ex. She's living in a modest apartment with her boyfriend, Kai, also known as Kim Jongin. Memories flood my mind, recalling how Jennie used to assure me there was nothing romantic between them. And now, after our breakup, she's not only with him but carrying his child.
I grip my glass tightly, unable to contain the rush of emotions coursing through me.
"Babe," Chaeyoung's voice breaks through my reverie as her hand lands gently on my forehead.
"Why is your face so red? Are you feeling feverish?" Concern laces her words as she studies me intently.
I pull her closer, stealing a kiss to distract her. "Aniya, babe. I'm fine," I assure her, though her worry still lingers but she continue with the movie.
(Flashback)
Chaeyoung entered my life at my father's birthday dinner, an event where I had intended to introduce Jennie to my parents. However, she had canceled last minute due to her demanding schedule, leaving me to face my family alone.
"Baby, I'm so sorry," Jennie's voice echoed from the phone as I watched my father entertain his guests.
"Hmm," I murmured in response, cutting her call short to avoid hearing her hollow apologies.
My phone buzzed with a message from Jennie,
Babymandu: "I'm sorry babe ,if it wasn't dad , I would never cancel on you"
She apologized once again, blaming her father for an urgent meeting. I left her message unread and retreated to the bar, seeking solace in a glass of alcohol.
"It's still early to drink this much," a voice remarked, drawing my attention to a girl with blonde hair and a striking face.
"And why do you care?" I retorted, taking another sip.
She merely hummed and settled onto the stool beside me.
Feeling uneasy, I glanced at her, only to be met with a smirk. "But you do care if I don't reply, huh?"
Flushed with embarrassment, I considered leaving when my father approached, accompanied by an older man.
"I see you've already met your friend. Now, meet Mr. Daniel Park," my father introduced, prompting the man to greet me warmly. I recognized him being my father's close friend.
"It's nice to see you again, Lisa," Mr. Park said with a smile, pulling me into an unexpected hug.
As the conversation continued, I excused myself quietly, the weight of my emotions too heavy to bear in that crowded room.
"You used to call me chipmunk, you remember?" the girl persisted, breaking through my thoughts once more.
"No," I responded trying to maintain my composure.
"And I teased you back by calling you a duck because you used to go 'quack quack,'" she continued, mimicking a duck's movements and drawing attention to herself.
Despite my efforts, a smile tugged at the corners of my lips as she glanced at me with a hint of embarrassment. I leave to the corner where she followed me.
"Quack quack," I repeated, imitating her antics.
"Hey, don't tease me!" she protested, her tone playful yet indignant.
Shaking my head, I made a move to retreat to my room, but she persisted in following me.
"Where to?" I inquired, growing slightly annoyed.
"I don't know anyone else here besides you, and this party is so boring," she admitted with a shrug.
Rolling my eyes, I retorted, "Am I performing a monkey dance here that makes you think I can entertain you?"
She reciprocated with an eye roll of her own. "Obviously, we're the same age, monkey."
With a shake of my head, I headed towards my room, knowing she would likely follow.
"Lisa," Chaeyoung's voice brought me back to the present once again.
"Where are you lost, baby?" she queried, her concern evident.
"I was just thinking about how I met you," I replied softly, feeling a sense of warmth as she kissed my lips, her smile reflecting contentment. I pull her more as we both can't escape our desires.
