Jennie POV

I usually work from home and it's just freelance work , but as I'm pregnent Kai decided that he will show his cooking skills in workplace to earn money for this household , however only three people reside in this apartment - Me ,jisoo and Kai but we still need to earn money as we can't depend on Jisoo only.

Stepping out of the door, I caught sight of Kai, standing lost in thought, his gaze fixed on some distant point.

"Are you thinking about flying?" I teased, snapping my fingers to bring him back to reality. Kai tsked, his attention still held by whatever had captured his imagination.

"Yaaaah," I screamd in his ears shaking him gently to draw him back to the present.

He got startled and cupped my face asking If I'm okay . Responding with a gummy smile, I laughed softly, finding him irresistibly cute.

he just made disgust face when I kissed his nose for being cute, I shook my head and intertwined our hands and led him towards the main road to hail a taxi.

However, a sudden chill swept over my spine, a sensation as if someone was watching us. Jennie turned to investigate, but found no one there. Shrugging off the eerie feeling, I continued on to my monthly checkup.

(Fast forward)

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" Kai's concern persisted even after I insisted that I would be fine alone at M Group's building.

"Kai, I think Lisa and I need to be alone to talk," I explained, hoping he would understand. He nodded understandingly and about to leave when...

"Jagiya," I said in aegyo, mustering a playful tone.

"All the best for your interview." Kai's exaggerated reaction, pretending to throw up at my aegyo, made me chuckle. I playfully raised my fist, causing him to look genuinely startled.

Turning towards Lisa's company, I encountered shocked looks from the security staff, reminder of my frequent visits in the past when no announcement was necessary. I used to come here for lunch and sometime bring breakfast.

"Is Lisa Manoban here?" I inquired, prompting the security guard to make a call. Within moments, hurried footsteps approached, and I turned to see Lisa panting as if she had rushed to meet me.

"Jennie?" she gasped, clearly taken aback by my unexpected appearance.

"Sorry for my unannounced arrival, but I didn't have your number, so this was the only way to meet you," I explained, acknowledging her efforts to cut off contact.

She appeared guilty for a moment before composing herself. "Mina, cancel and reschedule my appointments for the next hour," she instructed swiftly before turning to me.

"Let's go, Jennie," she said, leading the way to a nearby café. We settled into our usual spot, and Lisa ordered for both of us, a familiar gesture of hospitality I heaved a sigh, breaking the silence between us.

"How are you?" I asked, studying Lisa's expression as she met my gaze.

"I'm good. What about you?" she replied, her tone soft.

After a moment of contemplation, I offered a simple yet sincere response. "I'm happy."

A pang of guilt tinged Lisa's features as she began to speak. "About what happened, I'm so sorry for leaving you without—"

"No, Lisa, it's fine," I interjected gently, reaching out to reassure her. "You left because you felt unloved and found the love you deserved. And me too, I found reasons." I noticed her eyes darken slightly, but she remained composed.

"I'm glad you felt the same, Jennie, or else I would have felt guilty about what happened," she admitted, her fingers tracing patterns on the coffee cup.

"There was nothing left for us," I continued, mustering courage. "Maybe we were not meant for each other." Lisa met my gaze and nodded in agreement.

Rubbing my hands nervously, I finally gathered the courage to bring the topic weighing heavily on my mind. "Lisa," I began, my words stumbling out in a rush. "I wanted to talk about something."

"Yes, Jennie, say," she urged, her eyes fixed on me with intent focus.

"I'm pregnant," I blurted out, closing my eyes briefly as the words spilled from my lips in one breath.

"Okay?" Lisa's response was flat, and I could tell she didn't quite grasp the gravity of what I had just told her.

"Lisa, I'm pregnant with your child," I said, dropping the bombshell. Her eyes widened in shock, and she shook her head in denial.

"Oh no... no, it's not possible," she protested, refusing to accept the truth.

"Lisa, it's true," I insisted, reaching out to hold her hand, but she pulled away.

"Look, Jennie, don't play games with me. I know you're desperate to get me back, but at least don't involve Kai and your son in this," she accused sharply.

Tears welled up in my eyes as her words pierced through me. She turned and ran outside, and I followed, pleading with her to believe me.

"Lisa, it's true. You can ask Kai and Jisoo," I followed her, hoping to convince her.

She stopped and turned back, her expression scary and mocking.

"Jennie Ruby Jane, your fetus is about two and a half months old, and you're telling me now to believe it's mine?" she scoffed, laughter bubbling from her lips.

"Lisa... please," I whispered, but she left me standing alone in the middle of the road.

Lisa's POV

I couldn't believe it. Jennie was trying to tell me that the child she carried was mine, after I had seen her being affectionate with her boyfriend in front of her apartment. I watched as she flashed him her gummy smile and kissed his lips. What was she planning? How could she expect me to believe this?
