I don’t know how I ended up here but here I was at Green Wood again looking out at the world with dead people sitting beneath a head stone hiding from everyone who loved me. I don’t know who I am. I was two people I was New York Luz and California Luz I wasn’t sure if there was a middle ground anymore.

“Grave yard girl.” I heard someone say

I looked up and there was the guy from the first time I had come her ugh what was his name.

“Zane Right?” I smiled.

“Yeah, what are you doing back here?”

“I feel dead.”

“Sounds pretty bad. Need an ear?”

“What?”

“Need someone to listen.”

“That would be nice.”

“Ok how about we go grab a slice and you tell you your life story and I’ll tell you mine.”

“Deal.” I laugh knowing that it’s dumb to go off with a boy I hardly know.

We walked a few blocks away from the cemetery and ended up at a little pizzeria. We just talked about everything and nothing. For the first time in a long time I didn’t wonder what people thought or who I had to please. I just got to be me. He loves the same bands I did even started singing parts to a few songs. He knew books and enjoyed art like I did. I couldn’t help but wonder. What would happen if everyone knew this me like Josh did. I just wanted to be able to talk to someone and not hid a part of myself.

“So where have you been my whole life?”

“In California living the dream.” I laugh

“So you don’t live here?” He frowns

“Nope well I guess part time spend all my vacation time here with my dad until I turn 18.”

“Ahh divorced parents my mom lives in Greenwich while my dad lives in Brooklyn.”

“At least you didn’t have to fly cross country to see both your parents.”

“True.”

I smiled at him. It was nice to see that I wasn’t the only weird person in the world. We set there for a few more minutes before my phone rang. I looked down to see the caller ID and it was Papi Shit.

I picked up the phone and said, “Hi Papi.”

“Where are you?” He yells

“Eating pizza.’

“Why didn’t you call?”

“I had to escape be home in a few Im going to grab a cab.”

“Alright when you get her go into the club the locos are up stairs freaking out because they couldn’t find you.”

“Sorry Papi.”

“I just want to know what’s wrong.”

“Have Josh with you.”

“He’s sitting right next to me Mija.”

“See you in a bit.”

I looked up at Zane who was smiling.

“Have to go.”

“Kind of got that can I text you or call maybe?”
