𝐈 𝐈𝐍𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐘, the moist air rejuvenating my lungs and a sense of calm washing over me. There's something about the brisk morning air and the way the sun's rays warm you along with the chirping of birds that is so energising.

“You know you look weird when you do that.” I open my eyes and glance over at Mason who's jogging beside me, giving him an annoyed look while a smile pulls at the corner of my mouth.

“It’s called appreciating nature, Mason,” I retort.

“Nobody should look this happy to be on a run at six in the morning,” Mason disagrees. I shake my head lightly.

“The sun's awake so I'm awake.” Mason gawks at me.

“Did you just quote Frozen?” I laugh lightly at his expression.

“What's wrong with that? Frozen is an animated masterpiece.” I slow my pace slightly as I shrug my jacket off and tie it around my waist.

“So, Virginia, huh,” Mason says after a few moments of silence bar the leaves crunching under our feet.

I explained to Mason how my memories of my childhood have started to come back, leaving out any supernatural details of course.

“I don't even know if I should try and go there. I mean it's a thirty hour drive and plane tickets would cost way more than I can get…”

“But,” Mason urges me on. I let out a breath before replying.

“I just feel like I have to go there. It's the only thing I have that connects me to my parents. I know it's weird but I feel like if I go there all my memories will just come rushing back.” I slow my jogging pace to a stop as I take a breather, Mason stopping beside me.

“You should go, I can come with you, if you want. We can make a last road trip before school out of it,” Mason suggests.

“We both don't have our licences, though,” I point out. Mason pauses to think for a moment.

“Garrett just got his licence, he could drive,” Mason suggests. I bite the edge of my lip in thought. I'm not a big fan of Garrett, something about him puts me on edge, but Mason will be there too and I don't have any other options.

“I guess we'll have to ask him,” I decide. Mason nods and quickly flicks a text to Garrett before we continue our run.

I walk out of the bathroom, dressed in a fresh pair of clothes and my hair still damp from my shower. I glance at my phone to see if I have any updates from Mason before heading downstairs to grab some breakfast.

“You're up early.” I glance up from my plate of toast as Scott walks into the kitchen and makes a beeline for the fridge.

“I went for a run with Mason,” I explain after swallowing a bite of toast. Scott ends up grabbing a granola bar from the cupboard and engulfs it in seconds before grabbing the keys to his bike.

“I'm stopping by the clinic to have a pack meeting. Do you want to come with?” I sit up straighter at his words.

    “Pack meeting? Why?” I question.

“I stopped by Derek's loft last night but he wasn't there and I found these on the ground.” Scott fishes into his pocket and pulls out a bullet casing that has engravings on the side.

I carefully take it from him, running my finger over the engraving of a skull.

“Do you recognise it?” Scott questions. I nod my head slowly as I look back up to meet his gaze.
