Mirabella

— September 15th, 2023. Marina Bay, Singapore.

We had fallen asleep in our clothes, too exhausted to change. The commute back to Singapore had knocked both of us out, so much so that we rarely spoke, either sleeping or - when we were awake - trying to get back to sleep. In my slumber, I could vividly remember getting back to the hotel - or more Veronica's glare, clearly disapproving of these kinds of antics - and tripping over my own feet before I crashed onto the bed.

A beat skipped over my chest and I darted up, realising I hadn't set an alarm and, knowing Oscar, he hadn't either. Grabbing my phone from the floor - where I'd tossed it the night before - I checked the time, groaning at the reality. I rolled back over, Oscar's eyes still peacefully closed.

"Oscar." I pressed an arm to his shoulder, shaking gently. "Oscar, you're late."

He stirred awake, brows furrowed together as he squinted at me.

"You're late, tesoro."

Exhaling, his eyes closed. Slowly, he sat up, groaning with each muscle contraction, and sauntered to the ensuite bathroom. I must've fallen asleep again, Oscar already in fresh clothes by the time I opened my eyes, surveying the bedroom.

"On the sofa." I told him, knowing he was searching for his phone.

He hurried through to the other room, surfacing once more to meet me by the bed, the scent of teakwood following him.

"See you later." He said, pecking my forehead.

"Later." I echoed.

Already near the door to the bedroom, he turned over his shoulder, "I love you."

"Love you."

He left. I went back to sleep.
