School is over and I still cannot believe Dakshith agreed to come to the party as my date. I wonder why he keeps doing such things which make my heart flutter when he knows how badly I've been hurt because of him, or does he not realise? That I'm hurt because of him?

I go to my room throw my bag on the floor jump onto my bed and finally let a scream out into my pillow. The day was so chaotic, I felt so many emotions in a single day.

After having my lunch, I walk towards my closet, realising I have nothing to wear "Should I just skip?" I say to myself.

After crashing for a while I finally decided to go shopping as soon as possible and for now, steal my sister's red dress that doesn't fit her anymore.

I get ready and in the meantime I text Anjali.

"You're coming to Vaani's right?, I'm ready already"

I put my phone down and grabbed some water from the kitchen and a notification popped on my phone.

I was expecting it to be Anjali but to my surprise, it was dakshith.

Dakshith- "Do you want to go there together?"

After a day like this, that would be the last thing I would wanna do.

"No it's alright" I replied.

Dakshith- "Are you sure? I'm supposed to be your date, shouldn't we arrive there together?"He texted again,

Oh god, it's all because of Vaani.
And why did she have to use the word 'date'

"No, it's okay" I replied

Dakshith- "Sorry but I don't know where Vaani lives I need you to come with me or at least send me her address and be ready when I call you to ask for directions"

He is right,
He is my date, but I don't want to walk to Vaani's with him I'm sure something will happen that I'm not ready for. But I'm not willing to help him out with the directions either.

Sanjh - "Okay fine, meet me outside our school"

After a few minutes, I get a text from dakshith again

"Hey, I'm here"

As I see the text I quickly grab my purse and leave the house. I wonder if I'm under-dressed, but it doesn't matter hopefully there won't be too many people.

The moment my footsteps reach closer to the school I get the sight of this dreamy, masculine, Xavier Serrano dupe guy,

The further I move the more familiar he looks.
Finally, I can see him.
It's Dakshith, in a black shirt with beige pants.
I did know he was good looking but he has so much potential, I can't believe he's my date.

If it weren't for Vaani, I don't think someone like him would have ever even stood next to me. We used to be friends back then, so I never thought of him like I do now, but now after years of being apart, I somehow find myself wanting to get closer to him.

"You look..." He whispers

"Bad?" I say

Dakshith- "No"

Sanjh- "Then?"

He lets out a sigh at my words, and moves closer toward me making every revealed part of my skin boil up,

I almost melt as he leans towards my face, his mouth next to my ear,
And says

"You look gorgeous sanjh"

I...
I look gorgeous.

"Oh, thanks" I replied to him moving a step back.

"You.. you look good too," I say to him avoiding eye contact.

Dakshith - "just good?"

Sanjh- "We might get late we should hurry"

Dakshith- "Wait, I'll book a cab"

Oh god, I'm not carrying much cash.

"what? No, her house is literally 7 minutes from here, we can just walk there, it's a pretty street, isn't it? Don't you wanna walk?" I blurted out.

He lets out a raspy laugh that sends shivers down my spine.

"Okay sure," he says.

Dakshith's pov-

As we walk down the not-so-crowded street, I can't resist looking at her, the girl I've always admired in a shirt with a long tie and a black skirt, is next to me, walking in this street wearing this gorgeous red dress.

She looks like a dream,
A dream that I have no desire to wake up from

Thanks to Vaani because of her I get to see sanjh even after school is over.
I get to spend a few more hours with her.

I want to talk to sanjh, I want to tell her how the word gorgeous I said isn't doing any justice to what she looks like.

She looks like those clouds you see as the sun sets, pink and yellow.
Her eyes sparkle as the shimmer you see in a river down the moonlight.

As she's walking slightly ahead of me, I can't help but look at her dark brown hair, her hair swaying gently in the breeze, catching the sunlight. The smell of her hair enveloped me and filled me with a warmth I can't describe.

I wish I had said a few more words.
Gorgeous isn't enough.
It can never be enough.
