"Lan Zhan, your offer is tempting, and I would love to stay here, but I am not in a situation that seeking asylum could save me from the fury that awaits."

The words of Wei Wuxian brought sadness to Lan Wangji's heart, who embraced his loved one, while tears began to well up, trapped in his eyes."

"There must be some way..." Lan Wangji adjusted himself to look into Wei Wuxian's night-dark eyes. "You always find a way out..." He declared, as if finishing a prayer that he knew would be answered.

Wei Wuxian was intrigued by what he saw in Lan Wangji's honest eyes. He leaned on his elbow to study him more closely. Grabbing the Chenqing, which lay forgotten by his side, he began to twirl it between his fingers, mentally weighing his options and analyzing what Lan Wangji had just said.

"Perhaps there is. Indeed... I have been researching on this. There are some ways that would be feasible..."

"What would it be?"

"Transmigration."

"While alive or dead?"

"Using Yin energy, which has been the cultivation method I have been perfecting... Therefore... dead." Wei Wuxian pronounced his sentence solemnly to Lan Wangji, speaking with gravity. "I've been researching for some time. It is certainly possible, but it would require some luck and certain precautions..."

Lan Wangji admired him with crystalline sincerity. He knew that the Yin Tiger Tally would require immense spiritual power to be destroyed and that the life of whoever did so would likely not be spared. Lan Wangji understood this when he witnessed the power of that artifact and knew, by the nature of the object, that only its creator could destroy it. Therefore, he left the Burial Mounds aware that Wei Wuxian would likely meet his end soon, either by the suppression of his soul by the power of the amulet or by its destruction.

Admitting to himself Wei Wuxian's imminent and inevitable death was the sensible thing to do at that moment, even though it caused immense pain in his heart and a fury that he tried to appease, and that he never imagined he could feel. The young master of the Lan Clan sighed, concentrated, and, with his usual cold tone, deliberated:

"How would it be?"

"I won't give you the details." Wei Wuxian watched Lan Wangji's eyes gleam. Perhaps some turbulent, suppressed feeling had passed through them like a sharp, icy winter wind. Wei Wuxian smiled. "But, certainly, I will need your help." Wei Wuxian elongated the pronunciation of the words provocatively, bringing Lan Wangji back to his charm.

"I will do whatever is necessary!"

"Ohhhh Lan Zhan!! This is really very exciting!!" Wei Wuxian looked deeply into those eyes, which never wavered from his, not for a second. Lan Wangji was sincere. Wei Wuxian felt his heart pound as he contemplated the determination in those eyes.

"For now, I will return to the Burial Mounds and gather all my manuscripts. I will burn what I don't want anyone to read and leave those that I need someone to read... Lan Zhan, don't try to retrieve anything that has been mine after I leave this world completely. It's essential, especially the manuscripts! Don't even try to find out who has them, let events follow their Feng Shui, their natural flow, and let destiny take care of what needs to be done."

"So, we'll trust in luck?"

"Not only in luck, but in our intention. Before, I was willing to go completely, didn't even think about trying to come back. I reserved this night to rid myself of guilt and resentment to depart completely at peace for the other world. But something happened here, and I am really willing to return. That's the power I put into my intention."
