Wei Wuxian opened his eyes slowly. Around him, a room decorated in soft tones. White orchid flowers adorned the corners, and books rested neatly on a table alongside paper and a quill. Everything exuded cleanliness and organization. Someone slept silently in a bed, behind light and transparent curtains. Even from that distance, Wei Wuxian could tell who it was.

He approached with slow and careful steps. He opened the curtain, spotting the figure peacefully asleep, lying on the bed. The head rested on a pillow, while hair framed the beautiful face, falling on its sides. The person wore the white ribbon adorning his forehead. His hands rested near his face. He was breathing so peacefully that it was almost imperceptible.

Wei Wuxian sat gently on the edge of the bed and called softly near the sleeping figure:

"Lan Zhan."

"..."

"Lan Zhan!"

"..."

"Do you always sleep so deeply, Lan Zhan?"

Wei Wuxian didn't expect Lan Wangji not to notice him in his room. He had come with the intention of having a conversation, if the other man was willing to receive him. He wanted to talk and listen to his voice, always sincere. However, Lan Wangji seemed to be deeply asleep.

Persistent, Wei Wuxian approached his face, carefully tracing the tip of his finger over the long black eyelashes, as if playing a stringed instrument or keys, but there was no reaction from that body.

"You're really sleeping, aren't you, Lan Zhan? Sorry for intruding into your room and disturbing your rest..."

Wei Wuxian observed the beautiful face nestled on the pillow, the lips, the eyelashes, and concluded to himself that he wanted to stay there a little longer. Then, he settled beside Lan Wangji. He lay down beside him, turning his body upwards; without any decorum; he sank as if on his own bed. His gaze fixed on the ceiling, feeling the comfort that came from the peace of being in such a tranquil place and with a presence, not only defenseless but innocent and serene. He felt content with this sensation. Only the late hours of the night could be heard in the surroundings. Peace truly enveloped them in that recess.

"Lan Zhan, being in the Cloud Recesses isn't so bad after all... I can feel the qualities of this place now... You know, Lan Zhan, I came from far away to see you... I think someone helped me out of the Nightless City, and... I believe I heard your voice while I was unconscious..."

The lying body continued to sleep, without any reaction. This perception made Wei Wuxian even more relaxed by his side and open to speak freely.

"I was happy to think that I had been saved by Hanguang-jun..." Wei Wuxian's heart was racing again, while a warm sensation covered his face. "Was it really you, Lan Zhan? Do you care that much... about me?"

Wei Wuxian turned his head, searching for the face that slept serenely next to his own. His breath, though gentle, could be felt now, as they were so close. Wei Wuxian couldn't help but lightly touch his lips with his fingers, moving to his hair and the ribbon on his forehead.

"Lan Zhan, isn't it uncomfortable to sleep with this?" Wei Wuxian spoke as he traced with his finger the cloud-shaped relief on the ribbon, right in the center of his forehead. "I'll take it off for you!" he whispered, as if warning of his next crime.

Wei Wuxian leaned in a little more and carefully untied the knot of the white ribbon behind the motionless head. In the end, he pulled it carefully so as not to wake Lan Wangji, who remained oblivious to the visit. Then, Wei Wuxian lay back down beside him, holding the ribbon around his hands.
