MAX + NIKKI [ CAMP CAMP ]

Today was a hard day for Max, but he had fun. Even if he didn't want to admit it as much, he truly was happy that summer was going back so how it usually would be. When he went into his tent, he sat there for a moment. Niel fell asleep once he got there, which was unusual since he would often stay up late talking about science or researching for a experiment.

Max sighed and crawled out his tent and made his way to the lake, wanting to reflect or mainly just get some time to himself. Once he reached the lake, he happened to see Nikki already there, looking up at the stars. Max let out a small groan, yet he still decided to go and sit next to her. For a moment they were silent before Nikki spoke up.

"Are you glad everyone's back, Max?" She said smiling, turning over to him with a gentle grin. He was startled for a moment before speaking. "Oh, I thought you just weren't going to say anything. But.. I guess so."

They sat there in silence for a moment again. "Nikki, I'm actually..." Max paused for a moment when Nikki looked at him, her eyes sparkling from the moon. He stared into her eyes for a moment or two then quickly looked away. "I'm glad I got too see you again.. and uh, I'm sorry for making you stress out about my whole fear of change or whatever."

"You know I don't mind, Max." Nikki smiled as she looked away from him. "I know you don't think so.. but you changed a lot." Max looked at her in confusion. "What? Hell no. I'm exactly like I was last year. I know I accepted the idea of change.. well, I guess, but I know for a fact I'm still the same." He looked down at the lake.

"You really did, Max! I mean.. your so much more vulnerable now. Before you would barely open up about your feelings." She said blankly looking down at the lake with him. "Oh." He simply responded. They sat in silence, waiting for one or the other to say something.

"I'm happy I get to spend my summer with you, Max."

Max paused for a moment, feeling flustered,
that moment being interrupted by confusion as he suddenly felt a weight on his shoulder. He turned over to see Nikki fast asleep. He smiled for a moment and looked back at the lake. After a while he spoke up. "Alright sleepyhead, get up, im not going to let you sleep on my shoulder all night." He said smiling and Nikki sighing in sadness. "Aww I thought you would carry me!" Max chuckled for a moment.

"Now, Nikki, you know damn well I can't carry your heavy ass." He said getting up, reaching his hand out to Nikki as she grabbed it and got up. "Or maybe your just really weak!" She giggled. "...Shut up, Nik."

"Lets just go to bed, okay?"

"Alright, Max."
