★ CHRISTMAS MORNING
It was like a miracle.
Tara leaned against the window sill of her room at Sam's place, watching the snow slowly fall through the wind, the trees swaying with their coats of white. It was beautiful. Somehow the brunette managed to get what she wanted; a white Christmas.
She could smell breakfast from her bedroom. The voices of Richie and Sam could be heard throughout the house, both of them urgently preparing for this morning. The excitment grew in her stomach, her favorite holiday was finally here.
It was like everything was turning around for Tara Carpenter. One risk she took nearly changed everything. What was she even thinking? Going up to almost kiss Amber. She wasn't dumb, she knew that Amber almost kissed her back.
Her fingers played with the small necklace as her eyes trained on a neighbor walking by with his dog. Her phone buzzing against the end table, but ignored by her love for the view. Oh, how she wished Christmas would never end.
"Tara! Wakey, wakey!" Richie snickered when he opened her bedroom door after knocking a couple of times. He was to be seen wearing his flannel pajamas pants and a tank top, a Santa hat on his head that didn't quite fit right.
"Oh, I'm up," Tara said, her back towards him. She imagined herself playing in the snow, she didn't care that she was twenty and yearned to build a snow man or make a snow angel, she knew she would have to go search Sam's attic for some type of snow pants.
Tara was so happy that not even Richie's cringe awakening could put her in a funk.
"Merry Christmas," Richie said to her before continuing. "Sam made breakfast, she wants you to eat before we do gifts."
"I'll be there in a couple of minutes, merry Christmas to you too," Tara told him softly, finally turning her head to give him some acknowledgment.
Richie nodded before disappearing out of her room, leaving the door open to make sure she doesn't forget that she needs to head out soon - not like she was going to forget anyway.
Tara finally made herself get away from the window, the snow was not going to suddenly disappear.
"Tara! Hurry up!" Sam called from the kitchen.
"I'm coming!" Tara yelled back.
Tara scrambled to grab her slippers that were nearly mandatory against Sam's cold floors from under her bed. Moving to grab her phone from the charger, she made a sudden pause at the text messages that were flown in.
Of course, Wes.

Tara had finally gave in, that sadness she had been trying to keep up with him had finally shriveled to nothing. She knew that when she would finally decide to see him, her body would throw a fit in anger, opposing this, but she wants closure. He was drunk the last time they had spoke. Plus, this would finally let her end things completely, maybe he will finally stop bothering her.
