★NEW YEARS DAY

The two girls tried to keep on their giggles as they snuck back inside the apartment through the sliding door; hand in hand. Amber took the lead through the crowded living room from the party, both of them tiptoeing due to the sleeping couple on the couch: Mindy and Anika.

"Shhh. . ." Amber directed when Tara nearly tripped on a beer can, making both of them manage to a laugh out.

"I'm sorry!" Tara had whispered back.

Amber covered her mouth with her freehand to cover up her laughs, while her other tugged Tara.

Through fits of giggles and hushing each other, the two made it down to the hallway, where they most likely had to branch off. Amber flicked on the small hallway light, wanting to see Tara for the final time tonight.

There was nothing that could be said that could remove the smile on Tara's face, like everything had just fit together and made sense for once in her life. Her hand reached up, playing with her necklace.

"You like it?" Amber teased her, pulling her closer by her hips.

Tara blushed. "Haven't taken it off since you gave it to me."

Amber reached out, touching the necklace also with one of her hands, looking down at Tara.

"I still need to give you the Christmas present I got you," Tara spoke softly, allowing Amber to touch the necklace delicately. "But it's stuck at some stupid shipping warehouse."

Amber quietly chuckled, "I told you, you didn't need to get me anything."

"Can I spoil it?"

Amber shook her head no, moving her gaze back to the brunette's eyes. "Don't spoil it."

"Please?" Tara had begun to beg.

"Shhh, you're gonna wake everyone up," Amber spoke softly, her finger pressing against the other's lips.

Tara grabbed Amber's wrist to guide her away from her mouth. She felt the warmth spread across her body when the taller girl's other hand gave her hip a squeeze.

"Can I please spoil it for you? I don't wanna hype it up and then you get upset when it's not something cool," Tara had explained with her forehead creasing in worry.

"Such a worry wart," Amber sighed out. "Fine, you can tell me."

Tara relaxedwhen Amber had given in so easily, not expecting that a simple amount of begging could get through her so easily. "Just some Stab stuff . . . " she let out with a twinge of embarrassment.

"Just some Stab stuff?" Amber rose her eyebrows due to the vagueness, her smile creeping back onto her face while she tried to think.

"I was gonna get you a Ghostface costume," Tara scrunched her nose in cringe, "but I didn't think you are into cosplaying. . . plus, I don't want you killing me in my sleep."

"Yeah, due to all your snoring."

"I do not snore!" Tara quickly disagreed with embarrassment.

"Trust me, I can hear you from my bedroom," Amber continued to tease her.

"Amber, come on! I don't snore."

"Stop yelling," Amber giggled, shushing her once more.

"I don't snore," Tara repeated with determination but kept her voice down.
