June 1995
“It’s suppose to be a sunny day as per today’s weather report then why its fucking raining” Anita the youngest sister whined the moment car stopped in front a huge building that looks like haunted and in the stage it might fall down any time. It's good her family decided to demolish this building after their grandmother’s death before it could crash down on its own. The house was already vacated, but their parents insisted these two to check if anything was left out before they proceeded with demolishing tomorrow.
“Stop whining like a baby and get out of the car Ani, we have work to do…” Laura, the eldest, grimaced hoping out of the car and jogged to the house as it was drizzling. She was angry at her parents for sending her here on the weekend because she could have spent her weekend thinking about a story to write in her book rather than go for a search in a vacant half broken empty house.
Anita followed her sister into the house and gasped looking at the state of the house. If the exterior looked half broken then the interior was covered with spider webs and dust.
“Looks like it may crumble down at any time and I wonder how grandma managed to live here alone for all these years…” Anita voiced out her thoughts looking horrified.
“What do you expect from a house that is more than 200 years old? I am surprised it's still standing.” Laura said looking around and Anita agreed to her sister’s point by nodding.
“Ok, Ani… Let's get done with this and go back before the weather gets worse. It’s already started to rain.” Laura sighed and went upstairs followed by Ani to look for any important things that were still remaining.
As the sisters went from room to room looking for something that is valuable from their ancestors house that their grandmother inherited from her grandmother.
It is said that the house was a gift from the queen herself as a reward for their great grandparent’s good service in the palace. Of Course the girls and their family know the history of the house, but what they were not aware of was that there was a hidden secret in the house that was erased from the history.
“Lauraaa…” Ani shouted from the room that looks like it hasn’t been used for years. A thunder rumbled. The old wooden floor was stressed making sounds when Laura rushed to the room from where Ani shouted. Panicking what made her sister shout.
Entering the room Laura’s panic mode turned into anger to see her sister standing in the middle of the room silently looking down at the floor.
“What the hell? Why did you shout like you saw the ghost, Ani?” Laura snapped.
“Chill sis and listen” saying that Ani took two steps forward and two steps backward. As she stepped on the floor it made a different sound compared to the second step she took. A second thunder rumbled louder with lightning making both the sisters shiver in fear.
Getting near Ani, Laura analyzed the floor closely. Intrigued what might this ancient house hold.
It is a wooden floor that was constructed by attaching multiple rectangle shaped wooden pieces. Curiosity filled the sisters as they crawled on the floor knocking here and there checking if any of the other places were sounding different, but no. Except for that particular part of the floor, the entire room’s floor sounded the same.
Ani pressed her ear against the part of the floor where it heard differently and knocked twice. It sounds like there was a space below the flooring. The next time she tapped twice hard and the wooden floor slightly shifted making the two sisters look at each other bewildered. Laura too joined Ani and looked closely only to notice that the four wooden pieces were looking different. Laura pressed the one end making the other end lift lightly and Ani responded immediately by taking her pocket knife and opening it fully. Like that they took all the four wooden pieces revealing a medium sized wooden box that looked antique.
Taking out the box carefully they placed the wooden pieces like it was before and rushed downstairs with that wooden box in hand making the stairs creaking sound on their way.
Sitting flat on the living room floor the sisters opened the box after a few tries as the lock was rusted. Laura’s eyes shined in excitement whereas Ani’s eyes dulled seeing the content inside the box.
“I hoped for a treasure but it seems like our grandmother has a habit of writing journals. Anyways you are more interested in these things so you can look over it… i’ll go and search the other rooms for any valuable items…'' with that Anita withdrawn from the living room leaving Laura alone.
Laura has always been into reading stories and top of that she loves to read historic period stories. This love for reading awakened an interest to become an author. She always wished to write a historical time love story, but the problem is she couldn’t come up with any good story. Now getting her hands on these mysterious box filled with diaries, letters and rolled canvas papers that looked older than the age of this house… a hope bloomed in her heart that this might bring some ideas for her to start to write a story.
Getting the stuff out of the box she pondered from where to start as it has totally three diaries with at least fifty letters and seven canvas sheets that were rolled.
“I checked every room and there was nothing except this box. Can we go now sis? It’s getting late and the weather is getting worse by that time.” Ani came while Laura was busy skimming through the dairies. Listening to her sister Laura checked outside to witness the dark clouds and realized it would be better if they returned home. Putting everything back in the box carefully she brought everything with her.
After returning home the first thing Laura did was to change into comfy clothes and started to read the diaries.
Pages after pages, sentence after sentence, word after word and letter after letter spoke the true love of two individuals and their soul connection.
Completing the three diaries and letters that kept Laura awake for an entire night she came up with an idea. She made the diaries into a book and submitted them to a publisher without researching anything about what she read in those diaries and letters. She only thought of it as a beautiful love story and an opportunity for her to become an author.
After reading the story the publishing firm agreed to release the book with one condition which Laura accepted with hesitation. She signed to publish the book with the name “Wherever you are, My love” on December 28, 1995. Soon it became one of the bestselling books that got sold out in the late 90’s as everyone was captured by the beautiful love story. People loved the book and soon it became the talk of the town.
