So now I'm permanently under Harvey Bullock's supervision.
Yipee.
Today the case was really... odd. Ronald Danzer, a scum man who ran a Ponzi scheme, was lifted into the sky by a weather balloon.

"Cart was loaded with bricks for ballast.", I tell Bullock and Jim after I inspect the balloon cart.

"So, Ronald Danzer cheats half of Gotham out of their savings, but before he can stand trial, an unknown man clips him to a balloon? No body? We calling this a murder?" Jim asks his hands on his hip.

"Call it public service. Danzer was a bum. He got what he deserved. I'm gonna go get a Danish. It's what I deserve." Bullock walks away.

"Were cases always this... extravagant in Gotham?"

"Gotta get used to it." Jim shrugs.

My phone starts ringing and I see it's Josefina.

"Must be about my grandma. I'll meet you back at the station, watch out for the man's falling corpse." I wave at him before hurrying to my car.

Once back at the station, I head to my desk to work on the paperwork.

"The man, the myth, the legend." I hear Bullock tell Jim as I go over to their desk.

"He's a thug."

"Who's a thug?" I ask Jim, sitting down at my desk.

"Jim met Lieutenant Cranston."

"Ah, yes. I had my encounter with him my first day, it was... something." I nod.

Off the record; I hate the guy. Sexist, racist, hates the homeless, he's probably homophobic too- just the worst.

Jim shakes his head, "So, no fingerprints, and those carts are too easy to buy or steal to trace. How you coming on those death threats?" He asks as he sits down.

"I thought we talked about this." Harvey shakes his head.

"Ronald Danzer was murdered. It's our job to catch murderers." Jim nods.

"The guy was a crook."

"Who had not been convicted of any crime."

"Tell that to the two guys who killed themselves because he lost their life savings. This guy was living high for 30 years while the city kissed his ass and gave him awards for being such a philanthropist."

I look down at my paperwork, trying not to get involved in this argument of theirs.

"So we just let his killer go free?"

"Guy walks in here, holds his hands, I'll arrest him. Otherwise, I'm content justice was served."

"Like with the Waynes? Is that what you mean?"

Bullock takes off his reading glasses and points at Jim, "Mario Pepper killed the Waynes. We killed Pepper. That case is closed."

"Detective Gordon?" A man grabbing onto a girl asked.

The girl pulled her arm away.

"Davis Lamond from Juvenile Services? You asked to see Selina Kyle. Could you sign for custody?" He hands Jim a clipboard. "And when you finish, you can bring her to our new facility on Water Street. She's scheduled to be transferred upstate tomorrow."

The girl gets really close to our desks.

"Yeah, that's gonna be delayed. She has information about an investigation." Jim signs the papers and returns them to the man and he leaves.

"Would you mind... stepping... back... a bit, please?" Harvey pushes her away from him. "Wait a minute. Is that one of the kids that was snatched?"

Ah, yes, she was very familiar.

"Another closed case. What is it about the word 'closed' you don't understand?"

"This is something else. Just read the letters, track the balloons. I'll be back in an hour."

"Yeah, boss. Get right on it." He shakes his head sarcastically. "Where's my pen? Did you take my pen?"

"Why would I take your pen?" I shake my head.

"Don't get smart with me. Start reading those letters." He points at me before looking back down at his paperwork.

I roll my eyes and get started with work.

I was still doing all the work when Bullock left for lunch. I was getting hungry as well, but I hadn't brought any lunch. I could buy a sandwich but I wanted to focus on my work. I still needed to work on the balloons.
I simply got a snack from the vending machine before going back to work.

When I came back I saw Jim angrily walking away from Allen and Montoya.

"Take a shower. 'Cause you stink like a sewer." Allen yelled after Jim.

"What's going on?" I ask Montoya.

"Mind your business rookie." Allen glared at me.

"I'm sorry, I was talking to Montoya." I pointed at my friend. "Didn't mean to set you off."

She places a hand on my shoulder, "Stay out of this one, Alec. For your own good."

Bullock came back from lunch and we finished working on tracking the balloons. We got a lead when I talked to the owner of a balloon factory, who said he would come to talk to us at the station. Now we just needed to find Jim.
