JACK
I stand there for a few seconds, watching as Kim quickly walks away from me and disappears into the crowd. I think about how she reacted when I mentioned which street I live on for a few seconds before shrugging it off, trying to ignore the uneasy feeling that I have. As I continue to wander around the mall, looking around, I notice a small book shop near me. I decide to go inside and look around out of curiosity, maybe I can find some good books to buy.
When I enter the book shop I notice that there are rows and rows of bookcases filled with books, it's almost like a maze. As I browse through the books I finally manage to find the Comic and Graphic Novels section. After skimming through some of the titles on the shelves I picked up a comic that caught my attention. The picture on the cover showed a zombie coming out of a grave and grabbing a man wearing a blue suit and the title read The EC Archives: Tales From The Crypt Volume 1. The date of the copy is 1956 so it's one of the much older ones, you don't see many of these anymore.
After browsing through the Comic and Graphic Novels section some more I found a few more good titles such as Watchmen, The Walking Dead Volumes 1, 2, & 3, Deadpool: Samurai Volume 1, and Bone with all 10 volumes in one book. I decided to check out before I try to buy anymore, these seven should last me two weeks. After I purchase the books I leave the bookshop before deciding to go look for mom and Jay. I look around trying to spot them both in the crowd of people only to be unsuccessful. I take my phone out of my jacket pocket and I decide to text her.
Me: Hey, where are you guys at?
It only took her a few seconds to answer my message, which was very quick.
Mom: We're up front, near the entrance.
I type a quick response before hitting send.
Me: Okay, I'll be there in a couple minutes.
She sends me a response a couple seconds after I send the text to her.
Mom: This is why you don't run off on your own.
I roll at the text she sent me, it's not like I'm not old enough to off on my own and do my own thing. I turn my phone off and put it back in my jacket pocket before I start walking in the direction of the entrance of the mall, where Mom and Jay are waiting for me. When I reach them I notice that they're sitting on one of the wooden benches, with their shopping bags sitting on the ground next to them, near the entrance. They both stand up, grabbing their bags in the process, when they notice me approaching them. Mom has an annoyed expression on her face while Jay only has a bored expression on his face. He looks like he wants to leave and get back to the house already.
Moms annoyed expression made me a little nervous, she's probably going to have a serious conversation with me about this when we get home. I can tell that she's tired of me always going off and doing my own thing every time we go somewhere. She tends to worry about me and Jay a little too much when it comes to something like this. I just wish she would just stop treating me like a little kid.
