RILEY
Stepping into the back, my mind raced over everything that had happened.
Logan Peters asked me out on a date, and I still couldn't believe it. The hot stud of the town asked me out on a date.
Even though my mind was swirling with everything imaginable, the excitement of seeing him again was there. But as soon as the excitement came, so did the nervousness. And then questions rippled through everything that could happen. He may not like me, but maybe he was doing it all to make me feel safe and welcome in the new town.
Shaking my head, I made some coffee and leaned back against the counter, relishing again the mere thought of what would happen.
There was so much I needed to do.
What the hell was I going to wear for this date?
Where was he taking me?
There were so many questions that I gave myself a headache.
After having my coffee, I walked back into the store, only for Margret to tell me I could finish early. The look she gave me was enough to tell me Logan had told her we were going on a date.
"I think you can go up now; you have to get ready for your date with my grandson," she said with a smirk.
I smiled and thanked her while gathering up my things. I needed to go back to my room. I walked away while feeling Margret's eyes on me the entire time.
Stepping into my place, I sighed and leaned on the door for support. Excitement rippled through me at the mere thought it was only a few hours before I saw Logan. I knew what I had to do, and that was to get ready.
First on the list was to find what to wear for our date. Pushing off the door, I walked over to the wardrobe and looked inside. Since I had known about the date, I had been thinking about what I wanted to wear, and I knew exactly what I wanted to wear—a short pink dress that reached the middle of my thighs with sneakers. I thought about braiding my long hair since I had no idea what he was planning for us.
Pulling out the dress, I placed the pink dress out with a matching underwear set and laid it all on the bed. Knowing I had only a few hours, I knew I needed to prepare.
My stomach twisted into knots about our date. It was weird how I was acting. I had never acted like this about anyone, not even past boyfriends.
Shaking off the feeling, I walked into the bathroom and quickly showered. After a few moments of letting the water wash away all my worries and even washing my hair, I stepped out of the shower to wrap a towel around me and my head. Walking from the bathroom, I got ready. I sat down at the vanity and blew-dry my hair. After drying it, I put my hair into a French braid.
Once I had checked myself over, I moved away from the vanity and got dressed. I put on the underwear and then my dress, adding a touch of light makeup. I rarely wear makeup, as it makes my skin oily, but I will for tonight. I wanted to look perfect for my date with Logan.
Being dressed, I slipped my feet into my sneakers but quickly glanced at the clock, which read seven. Oh god, Logan will be here. My stomach did some somersaults again while I made sure I looked okay. After putting on my sneakers, a knock came at the door.
I smiled while moving toward the door. Opening the door, my eyes went to Logan, but my mouth became dry suddenly. By God, he was looking hot. He wore dark jeans and a long-sleeved top, with his dark hair brushed back. I took him in and couldn't help but check him out.
"You ready to go, or you're going to keep checking me out," he said with an amused tone, which made me look back at him while my cheeks flushed. "I don't mind, but I want us to get some food first unless you want me to eat you instead. I am fine with that."
Fuck.
What the hell?
My cheeks burned more after that last statement and even rendered me more speechless, while Logan stared back at me with a cocky grin.
Saying nothing, which was mainly because I didn't trust myself, I quickly grabbed my purse and ushered him aside so I could get out. There is not much room at the top of the stairs. I turned my back to him to lock my door, but he was so damn close. I could feel him behind me; the smell of his cologne—woodsy and musk—made my core tighten, which shocked me, but I kept my composure and continued with what I was doing.
Once my door was locked, Logan took the lead and grabbed my hand, leading me down the stairs. There is an instant spark that rushes through us, like electricity. Could he feel it, too? Or was it my imagination?
Logan's hand tightened around mine while he guided me through the store and straight to the door. My eyes scanned around, looking for Margret and Betty standing by the counter and looking at us.
They said nothing. Only smiles pulled the corners of their lips up, but how they watched us made me feel at ease.
Logan and I walked to our date at the small cafe not too far from the bookstore. We ordered some food. While we were there, it felt a little weird since hardly anyone was there, only the owner and server.
The server showed us to the seats and gave us some menus. While Logan ordered some drinks for us, I scanned over the menu. Silence was between us, but I could feel Logan's eyes on me the entire time.
The server brought out our drinks, and we gave her our order. I didn't know where to look until I looked at Logan, who was now wearing a smile. "Are you okay?" he asked, which only made me nod at him.
"Yeah," I murmured. "Just nervous. I haven't been on a date in ages."
Logan smiled.
"Neither have I," he said, which made me look back at him in surprise.
Why wouldn't he have had dates? The man was a walking wet dream.
Shaking my thoughts away, Logan let out a sigh. "Why don't we just ask each other questions? Then maybe we could learn something about each other."
There was no harm in getting to know each other. I had nothing to hide. When he asked his first question, the server came with our food.
Once the food was on the table, we began to eat and talk. It was surprising how many questions the man had asked me, but I answered them as honestly as possible.
Once we were done with the food, we left the cafe. Logan suggested taking me for a walk around the small town, which I was happy with. He told me about some of the town's histories. It amazed me. History is my favorite subject at school, and I had to ask many questions, which he didn't seem to mind.
The town fascinated me because people knew it for witches back in the day. I love all things supernatural. It is a shame it was fake.
We kept walking and talking, not noticing the time. I felt at ease with him and didn't want the date or our night to end.
