LOGAN

Riley moved onto her side and passed out after I marked her.

Fuck, I couldn't be happier right now.

When she mentioned she wanted to be marked, I needed to be reassured since I had been longing for this since the moment I had seen her. I waited, leaving her to her thoughts and to process what we were doing. I even got her to know more about what we do as a pack, just by taking her to the pack house and meeting a few of the higher ranks, including Mark.

While there, I could tell she heard all the moaning. The whole place was supposed to be soundproofed, but I never got around to it. It was normal to hear moaning, especially around the pack grounds. We were wolves, after all.

Everything had been going well. Whenever she asked me a question, I answered the truth. That night, she left; I nearly lost her. Between talking about every inch of detail, I made sure she had all the facts.

Last night, she wanted to spend time with my gran and Brie, a girls' evening. I didn't care and loved that she was making friends and even loved how she and gran had become close since. I don't know what they said last night; even Brie remained tight about it. She didn't even say anything to Mark.

My eyes stayed on her while she slept. She was now ours.

Our luna.

There was a pull on the pack link, but I ignored it. I knew what it was. Everyone had felt the moment I made her out luna. I wasn't in the moment to talk or even feel like being congratulated by the pack members. It was a bad alpha move, but I wanted to be in the moment with Riley.

Feeling movement in my head, I looked back at Max, who yawned. "Our luna is sleeping. We should too."

I said nothing but watched as he settled down. His eyes met mine while he cocked his head to the side. "What's wrong?"

Shaking my head, I let out a sigh. "Nothing."

There was a moment of silence until I realised something. "We feel complete."

Max stared at me but nodded. "We do. There's nothing more satisfying than having our mate."

That part was true to form. After everything, we came out on top, with Riley right there standing with us.

"Did you know she wanted to—" I asked, but Max shook his head, cutting me off.

"I had no clue that she wanted us to mark her. There was no indication for me, or you, by the looks of it."

I said nothing and looked back, keeping my eyes on her.

The persistence of the pack link came through, and I knew I had to be the alpha for a few moments. I opened it up, and all the congratulations came through. The link was full of happiness and praise, but most importantly, they were happier to know they had their luna.

After all the congratulations had ended, Mark and Brie opened a mind link. We talked, and it was then that Brie told me what last night was all about. Riley wanted advice about being marked. Brie told her everything I had said, which seemed to work since she asked me to do it.

The conversation ended after a bit when I told them I needed to sleep, even though sleep was nowhere near what I wanted to do. I closed the link and stared back at my sleeping mate.

It was necessary to sleep when you were marked, especially as a human. Their body must heal from the bite, but it is the claiming. It will take a few hours to be complete, and that will be when Riley will understand everything. I never mentioned mind linking each other, and I thought I would hold out until we had marked.

Shaking my thoughts away, I moved closer to Riley and kissed her head. Moving back, I quickly pulled the covers up and over. I watched her snuggle further into the pillow, which made me smile.

I loved this woman, and now we would spend the rest of our lives together.

Knowing it would take her a few hours to wake, I decided to leave Riley to sleep and head down to the bookstore. There was one person I hadn't heard from, and that was my grandmother. I knew she was waiting until she saw us, but I was too excited. I needed to see the one family member I had left.

Moving out of bed, I placed a pair of pants I had left in her apartment the other night since I shredded the ones I had worn earlier. I walked over to the door but didn't leave until I looked back at my sleeping mate. She was all safe and snuggled.

I wasn't going to be long. Letting out a breath, I turned around and headed out of her apartment and straight into the bookstore. I looked around until my eyes landed on my gran, who was grinning. "You finally have your Luna."

Grinning, I moved toward her. "Yeah, I finally do."

"Coffee?"

I nodded while she walked back into the kitchen. Staying by the counter, I looked around until my eyes landed back on the counter where a book was laying there—The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was one of her many favourites.

She placed a mug in front of me, causing me to look up at her with a smile. "Reading it again, huh?"

Gran laughed. "You know me all too well. I love it."

"So..." she said, moving her head to side. "What's up?"

"Nothing..." I muttered, but she cut me off.

"Don't tell me nothing. You have a sleeping mate upstairs who needs you with her, but you are down here with your old gran, talking about her old favourite book." It is shocking how well she knows me.

I stared at her for a moment and let out a sigh. "Do you think Riley will move into the pack house with me?"

Gran stared at me and let out a slight laugh. "Of course. First, put soundproof around the whole damn place since no one wants to hear all that noise, and then you will be fine."

I chuckled. Grabbing my mug, I took a sip and stayed with my grandmother for a little while before heading back up to Riley's apartment to be with her.

When I stepped in, Riley had a pillow I had been lying on pulled to her. It looked like my luna needed me. I headed over, took off my pants, and pulled her into my arms, where she would stay forever.
