RILEY
I am rooted to my seat, looking into the wolf's eyes. It was like a standoff between us.
Margret nudged me, but I didn't look at her. I am too focused on the wolf. "You need to get off the bus, my dear. He wants to explain himself."
Her words rang out, but I stuck where I was. I heard her movements and only looked up when I felt her hand go to my bag. I moved my eyes from the wolf and then to her. She smiled at me.
"Let me take this," she murmured, placing my bag on her shoulder. Her eyes went from mine and straight to the window. I looked back to see the giant wolf still there. His eyes remained fixed on me.
"Talk to him," she said, moving away and letting her arm leave my arm.
Saying nothing, I pondered over what to do, but all that came to mind was Logan. Margret may have spoken to me about werewolves, but it was him I needed to talk to more. She was right. I needed to hear from him.
Closing my eyes, I let my mind shut down. There was too much noise to get a good read of what I wanted to do.
Information overload was all it came down to, and I needed to do what was right for me.
Opening my eyes, I stared back at the wolf and slowly moved from my seat. I walked down the bus until I reached the front, leaving Margret at the back.
As I got closer, the driver opened the door, and I stopped. During the entire time I had been on here, I hadn't even noticed how bad the weather had become.
Keeping my eyes on the wolf as I stood staring, I heard movement from the side. "It's ok, miss. The alpha is a good guy and won't hurt you."
My eyes moved to the driver, who smiled at me. I didn't know what to say and looked back toward the wolf. It didn't take its eyes off me; his eyes were shining blue.
Staring at the enormous wolf, he amazed me. It was too dark to figure out his features, but his eyes were the only thing that kept me locked in place with him. He seemed calm, like a normal wolf, but this wasn't a normal wolf. He was a werewolf and the man I had fallen in love with over the last three weeks.
Would his wolf hurt me? I did run. Every little thing was startling to me, which made me second-guess myself.
"It's okay, miss. He wants to see you," the driver said, startling me.
Taking a few breaths, I turned around and went toward the door. I walked down the steps and got off the bus but still didn't take my eyes off the wolf.
The rain is harsh against my skin when I get outside, soaking through my jacket onto my top.
I slowly walked toward the wolf, but I realized he was massive as I got closer. He didn't move, watching me until I stopped a few feet away.
There was no fear in the place. The wolf cocked his head to the side and stared, and then shifted before my very eyes. I watched as every bone broke and fur disappeared till he turned back into the man I knew—Logan.
Logan stood there in all his naked glory, which didn't help matters. He stared at me for a few seconds till he spoke. "Riley, don't leave." His voice was hoarse. "This is who I am, and I am yours, only yours. You're my mate."
The words sound like a plead from him. "Please don't leave me. I will explain everything, even leave you alone, for you to get used to the idea, but please listen to what I have to say first."
His words soothed me, which was surprising. Could it be to do with the mate thing Margret had mentioned before? I stared at him, not opening my mouth, as I was too afraid of saying something stupid.
There was an awkward silence between us until Logan walked toward me, but I was rooted to the spot.
The rain fell free, wetting us. I kept my eyes on his face, knowing if I looked anywhere else, it would cause more issues than talking for us.
"Please, Riley, I want you in my life. I have fallen in love with you. I won't be able to live without you," he says in a low voice while staring at me, leaving only a few feet away from him being close to me.
"I know you don't know about the mate bond we share. I will explain everything, but please know I will never hurt you. I will protect you, even die for you. You are my soulmate, giving me to have and love. You are the only one who can bring me to my knees, and I would go on them and beg for you to stay."
My heart felt heavy. His words weighed down on me. I searched his eyes for the truth, but they kept changing. It had to be his wolf.
"I—" I said, but stopped since I couldn't get the words out.
At that moment, everything seemed clear to me. Logan has always been nice, even getting to know me. I even opened up about my life and what happened to my parents, which I never have done with anyone. He took the time to be with me.
I made up my mind.
After a few seconds, I jumped into his arms and wrapped my arms and legs around him, placing my mouth on his.
His body tensed at my sudden movement, which surprised him, but he soon recovered quickly and moved his mouth with mine. I parted my lips, and he slipped his tongue in while his arms wrapped around me tightly.
The kiss was full of need. I needed him like he was my last breath.
Logan pulled away, leaving us both panting. "Are you okay with this? I mean, me being a werewolf," he asked as he unraveled me from him.
When my feet landed on the ground, I kept my eyes locked with his and nodded.
"I will with some time. You might have to explain some more stuff to me, but we can talk more when we return to town."
Logan smiled; his head rested on mine while I watched his body become more relaxed.
"I will."
He moved back and grinned. "Now, let's get you home and out of these wet clothes. As much as I like the look of a wet t-shirt competition on you, I don't want anyone else seeing you like this."
I glanced down and soon realized I had forgotten to put on my coat. This meant the top I was wearing was now soaked to my skin, exposing my bra to him.
My eyes went to him, and eyes traveled down his body till I landed on his hard cock.
Fuck.
"Eyes up here, sweetheart," he said, making my eyes straight to his. The corners of his lips curled up into a smirk while he continued. "Keeping looking at me like that, I will have no problems taking you right here."
"You do this to me every time you are around me, but I would never have it any other way."
My cheeks flamed, which made him laugh.
His hand cupped my chin, making me stare at him. "There is nothing to be embarrassed about, babe; I am all yours," he said, bringing me closer to him.
"Now, let's get back on the bus and head back home, shall we?" he said, looking back toward the bus and then back at me. "What do you say?"
His eyes went to mine, and I knew what my answer was. "Let's go home."
Those three words had never left my mouth, and now it felt so real, but it was all because of Logan.
