I made a wish on elevens
For a soft voice
as warm as amber in my hands
And all my attention, it would hold
Ever word, gladly I'd hang upon.I blew out birthday candles
With a sigh that
Blew the colors of you
Into my dreams.I asked the Moonbeams
If I could touch you,
Paint your body with
Pastel whispers
Like lavender clouds.I stayed up to find
A shooting star,
To chase its tail
With a photograph of you
In tow,
So I could show the heavens
What I want my life
To look like.I made a wish on an Eyelash
But I thought twice before blowing
Because for a moment
It looked like yours.I have a jar in my room
Of wish bones,
But only the good ones,
And I hope they remember
What affably snapped them.I threw a coin in the fountain I made,
The earth carved by these hands and
Filled lovingly to the brim;
I pay a daily tithe.I made a wish on a dandelion...
And whispered your name
as the seeds took flight,
Hoping they'd carry my love for you
With them-
And you'd pick one up
In those perfect fingers,
Lower your knees to the earth,
And plant meRight there in your lawn.
