For the next few days Kao and Mrs Suppasak remained indoors while Richie, Phon and the other guard kept the journalists at bay. They camped outside of the gate and made frequent live reports to the studio detailing how Mr Kappanajong was refusing to comment on his marriage.
They also researched and speculated because they had nothing better to do. Phon was disgusted with how the press were treating Kao and all because he was from a wealthy family.
On Friday morning, Kao got up and peeped outside the curtains noting that the group of journalists seems to be getting larger. With a little luck after today's press conference, they would disperse and leave him alone.
If his business suffered, at least he had some savings and a roof over his head, he could easily start again but at least he knew where he stood with his parents now. His fathers offer was the last straw and proved that they didn't care about him and probably never had.
Phon was right, none of this was his fault, it was theirs and he wasn't the only person to suffer, there was also Chai Son, Nia and now Dane and Phon who were having to deal with the fall out of their selfishness.
Mrs Suppasak made everyone a good breakfast and Kao and Phon ate first then Phon went to relieve Richie and the other guard while they ate.
The conference was set for 1.30pm so for the rest of the morning they kept watch while Kao went into his study to go over everything he wanted to say.
At lunchtime, no one was particularly hungry and now the nerves were beginning to set in, Kao felt like he would vomit if he ate anything so instead he went to wash up and donned one of his favorite designer suits.
Just after noon, Richie got word that their transport was en route eta 12.20pm so they weren't surprised when the black mercedes sprinter with tinted windows pulled up in front of the gates and half a dozen security jumped out to hold back the journalists.
The gates were opened and the sprinter drove around the back of the property where Kao and Phon were waiting to climb inside. There was a drone flying above so Phon covered Kao with his jacket until they were inside then Phon saw his boss Chit driving.
"hey boss" wasn't expecting you to be here" Phon said.
"I wanted to meet your boyfriend" Chit said making Kao blush.
Mrs Suppasak stayed at the house with two different guards while Richie climbed in beside Chit,
"boss" Richie acknowledged Chit
"Richie, any problems" Chit asked.
"nope, just a few journalists I'd like to personally beat the crap out of but ya' know" Richie replied.
"yeah, I know, it's annoying as fuck, Toonie hate's it but what can you do" Chit said.
"Toonie?" Kao asked.
"that's Chit's fiancé, Paitoon Pinamakhorn" Phon said.
"the super model?" Kao said.
"the one and only" Chit said proudly.
It wasn't long before they arrived at the venue where the conference would be held and after much scuffling they managed to get inside and waited in a side room until it was time for the conference to begin.
At 1.25pm, Kao walked out of the room flanked by the guards and he took his place at the podium.
The room was filled with journalists and tv cameras which would film the conference and broadcast it live to the world. It wasn't that he was particularly important, it was just the nature of the beast, people were inherently nosy and wanted to know how the other half lived.
