"And I've been a fool and I've been blind. I can never leave the past behind." Shake It Out by Florence + The Machine

The looks and whispers stopped the next day.
It was as if a switch had been flipped and suddenly I had become insivible.
It was lunch when I started to become suspicious. Well, even more than I was to begin with. I mean, yesterday I was the talk of the school and now I was... well, no one. Not that I minded. Granted, that didn't stop my eyes from scanning the cafeteria every once in a while as I sat with Lisa and her group of friends.
"So are you gonna eat or just fill your stomach by looking at food?"
I turned my head to look at Lisa's friend - was his name Max? Or Jax? - my cheeks heating up. Lisa slapped his arm, giving him a nice glare.
"Haha. Of course not...," I trailed off, eating a little. I wasn't really hungry. My nerves were a mes, I felt dizzy and I wanted to throw up, which was a lot easier to avoid on an empty stomach. "I just have a lot on my mind."
"Well, I think, that thinking is... well, overrated," Tom - I think - added, chuckling.
"Of course you do, 'cause you can't think!" Lisa added, rolling her eyes.
"Feisty today, aren't we?" Another guy - seriously how many were there?! - laughed, slinging his arm over Lisa's shoulders. "Oh shut the fuck up, Brad! At least I have sass."
I laughed, watching the enfolding scene, amused.
"Guys are such idiots," a girl - finally - joined us and sighed.
She set her bag to the ground and then her eyes, which were a beautiful shade green I absolutely envied, fixated on me. She gave me a friendly smile, which I gladly returned.
"You're a refreshing new face. Nice to meet you! I'm Sierra," she introduced herself, brushing a few loose strands of her curly dark brown hair back.
"You too. I'm Shey."
And next thing I knew I was on the floor, an apologetic Brad looking down at me.
What was it with me and loving floors lately?
"Brad! Seriously! I like this girl, you can't go breaking her!" Lisa shrieked and helped me up.
"Are they always like this?" I whispered to Sierra and she chuckled and nodded.
Great.

"Should I be scared?"
Lisa laughed at me and made a face. I stared at my locker, wrinkling my forehead in thought.
"Yes. Fear the envelope. It's probably the worst thing you have ever faced!"
I frowned. No one communicates by letter these days. At least not in school. Since everyone was so addicted to their phones, why not just send a fucking text?
"Just open it! Come on!"
She had an excited look on her face and urged me towards the letter. Suspiciously, I took it, expecting it from all sides and opened it.
Congratulations. You have been accepted into Summer Camp.
That's it? I frowned, confusion probably evident on my face. Well, this was not weird at all.
