Shanvi and Sameer split up, each chasing the boy in opposite directions. The narrow alleyways proved to be a challenge as the boy skillfully navigated through them, attempting to evade capture.
The boy's movements were almost cat-like, effortlessly maneuvering around obstacles and slipping through gaps that seemed too small for a person to fit. Shanvi's frustration grew as the chase continued, but she refused to give up.
The boy led Shanvi into a dead-end alley, then cleverly climbed onto a rooftop, escaping her view. Sameer, realizing the diversion, retraced his steps. The chase intensified as the boy continued to outsmart them in the winding alleys.
"Clever smartass kid!"
Shanvi retraced her steps, aiming to cut off the boy, while Sameer took a different route. The boy emerged onto a busy street, and the chase continued through a crowded market.
As they neared the edge of the market, the boy made a sudden turn into a narrow alley, disappearing from sight. Sameer quickened his pace and entered the alley, closely followed by Shanvi.
The narrow passageway twisted and turned, creating a maze of shadows and hidden corners. Sameer's eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for any sign of movement.
The alley led to a dead-end, and he felt a surge of frustration. The boy was nowhere in sight. He turned to Shanvi, exchanging a determined glance before deciding to split up once more.
"I'll check the left side; you take the right. We'll corner him," Shanvi suggested, and Sameer nodded in agreement.
As they pursued their respective paths, Shanvi caught a glimpse of the boy darting into a narrow passage on the left. She pursued, determined to cut off his escape.
The passage led to a small courtyard surrounded by dilapidated buildings. Shanvi cautiously advanced, her senses on high alert. The boy, realizing he was cornered, frantically searched for an escape route.
"I'm fucked! Jesus!"
The boy's desperate eyes spotted a large garbage bin in the corner of the courtyard. Without a second thought, he lunged towards it, lifting the lid and squeezing himself inside, trying to blend with the discarded waste.
"Ew! It's so dirty here, but I have no other choice-"
"I think he escaped! Shit!"
"What should we do now?"
"What can we do! Let's leave."
Exhaling a sigh of relief, Anthony listened attentively as the fading sound of their footsteps assured him they were gone. When the coast was clear, he gingerly lifted the lid of the garbage bin, cautiously emerging from his hiding place.
"Gotcha," Shanvi said, a victorious smirk on her face. The boy flinched and immediately raised his hands in surrender.
"Really kid? A garbage bin to hide?" Sameer said with a smug smile on his face, his gaze fixed on the boy. "Now, hand over the bag and tell us the truth."
The boy hesitated before finally revealing, "I... I stole something."
Shanvi arched an eyebrow, "What did you steal?"
