The Remaining Days of Happiness

Hope

I've been very sick since i was young. I didn't manage to live the life that every kids has, party, friends, or even go to school. I have been stuck in this white room since im alive without any companion to talk to aside from the doctors and nurses who arrange my bed and look to my situation.

"How have you been, Hope?" I smiled weakly. She look at the machines connected to my body, before sitting in my bed to check me.

"Im fine, Ate Miah. I can still hold on." She look at me with pity. How I hate to see those emotion from people's eyes.

"You will be okay, Hope. You will be..." And that's what people from this Hospital wants me to believe. That there's a chance, that there's a way.

I know there weren't. I am bound to die, and I already accept it.

But when things already dark for me. When I already accept my fate, my destiny. Someone gave me my name. Someone gave me light in the middle of the darkness that I was in.

Someone gave me hope.

"Ate Miah, is it true that there's is someone already occupying the next room beside me?" I sounds excited. Oh, i didnt wish anyone to be sick but it just felt that there's already someone I can be friends with.

She look at me shooking her head while smiling. She fix her scrubs before sitting infront of me.

"Well, there's a boy who's not that sick but needed to be confined for a week, I guess?" I nodded while keeping myself from smiling.

I bit the side of my cheeks to stop it.

"I know you want to smile, Hope, go on. Be friends with him, alright?" I happily nodded to her. She tapped by head before standing.

I saw how she looks at me happily before bidding her goodbye as she need to go to another room to check the other kids.

I stand from my bed when the machines is already out of my body and peek outside before I walk to the room beside me. I stand there as i hesitate to knock. Pouting my lips i decide to raise my hand but before I manage to knock, someone already open the door.

My eyes widen as my breath stops because of shock. I saw a young boy looking at me curiously.

"Who are you?" He asked. I gulp and slowly stretch my mouth to smile.

"I... Im... Uhh.." i start to bit my nails as my eyes look everywhere aside from him.

He raised his brows.

"Im Hope, im the girl in the next room! I want to be friends with you." I shouted fast when i saw he is going to leave.

He just look at me and shrug.

4 days since the time he become my neighbor in the Hospital and I manage to become close with him a bit.

"Kaegan! Are you here?" I peek to his room before sliding myself in. I smiled when i saw him reading.

"What are you doing here, Hope?" I pout.

How cold.

"I want to play with you!"

"No."

"Please?" I look at him with my puppy eyes.

He just sigh and bring his book down to face me.

"Fine. 5 minutes." I smiled with victory.

But it didn't end in 5 minutes. We just had to stop when tita Miracle enter the room while smiling.
