Little Koko woke up to another rainy day. She yawned and stretched, slumping out of bed and retrieving her backpack. While walking to school, Koko was approached by Natsu. "Oh, Koko! Oh, Koko!" Natsu waved her hand, "Did you hear, did you hear?" Koko gave Natsu a confused look. "Hm?" Koko put her hands behind her back, "What's wrong, Natsu?" Natsu faced the ground, shaking, "Okiyaro... she's retiring..." Natsu closed her eyes. "So?" Koko asked. "Koko, retiring means she isn't gonna work at Suki Suki anymore!" Natsu cried, finally facing Koko with big teary eyes.
"Excuse me? No!" Koko made an 'X' shape with her arms and shook her head, "That is unacceptable!" Natsu began to sob dramatically, with Koko soon joining her. "W-wait a second..." Koko took a break from crying. Natsu took off her glasses to wipe her tears so she could listen to Koko. "What if we made her a goodbye present!?" Koko announced her wonderful idea. "Wooww! We should! You can paint a pretty picture!" Natsu recommend.
So, Koko got to work. Borrowing Mothers art supplies, Koko got a nice big canvas after school. Natsu sat next to her for encouragement. "Okay!" Koko clasped her hands, getting down to business, "We have 1 week to make the prettiest portrait ever made! We have paint, a canvas and water." "Plus emotional support!" Natsu added, referring to her own service. "Yes! And together, we will make the prettiest painting known to all of planet Earth!" Koko yelled, punching the air. As days passed by, Koko improved her painting more and more. The day before Okiyaro's retirement, Koko was almost finished her painting. Koko knew she needed a bit more time, so she approached Mother carefully. "Mother," Koko started, knowing Mother would say no, "I need a bit more time to finish Okiyaro's painting, but she retires tomorrow." Koko took a deep breath.
"So, may I please take school off today? I need to finish my painting or Okiyaro will be sad!" Koko proposed. "Koko, Koko, Koko," Mother wiggled her finger, "I may let you take time off school today. But this WILL count as your 'sick day'." Koko's eyes widened. She didn't really care if this was her last day off. The school year would be finished soon anyways. Besides, she loved Okiyaro. She costed a lot more than a sick day, so it would be fine to waste one on such an occasion. Koko hugged Mother. "I love you, Mother!" Koko announced as Mother hugged her back. Koko's mother was a strange woman, however when the time was right, she could be extremely sympathetic. Koko called Natsu on Mothers phone. "Natsu! Are you off school today?" Koko asked. "Yes," Natsu replied, "I am quite sick." Koko smiled, "It is fine! I can finish without you!" Koko finished her beautiful painting. She was ready to show it to Okiyaro. Tomorrow would be a day of happiness and sadness.
