When I wake up Monday morning it takes a good 5 minutes for me to realize where I am.

California.

My mother decided to to remarry a douche bag and move across the country.

Great.

"Eliza!"

I groan and roll over in my queen bed.

"ELIZA!"

"What?" I yell back to the annoying voice of my step-douche.

"You have to be ready to leave in 10 minutes. Your mother wants to drop you off at your new school."

Shit.

A new school. Great.

I lay in bed for another 5 minutes, until I here my mother calling my name.

I roll out of my soft warm bed and grab my jeans off the floor and pick a t-shirt out of my closet. I go into my bathroom and brush my teeth and hair. Not bothering with makeup because it wouldn't help anyway.

I'm completely ready within 5 minutes. I look at my reflection in the mirror and sign. My long brown hair is a mess, so I pull it into a messy bun.

"Wow I look hot today." I say to myself and then turn and walk down the stairs, so my mother will stop yelling for me.

"Eliza, thank God I thought you died or something."

"Yeah I wish." I think to myself.

"Now hurry up and eat so we can leave."

I grab a banana without saying a word and walk out the door.

-

"I love you and hope you have an amazing day, Eliza."

"Yeah okay mom."

Before I can shut the door she tells me I have to ride the bus home. Awesome. I'm a 17 year old senior still having to ride the bus with a lot of 14 year olds.

Today is going to be an amazing day.

Now if life was anything like High School Musical then when I walk into the front doors of my new school everyone will be dancing and laughing and having a great time.

Life isn't like High School Musical.

So when I walked into Beacon Mountain High School I see some jocks shoving a short kid with glasses, preppy girls laughing at the kid, and at least 5 couples making out against lockers.

Definitely not High School Musical.

The first thing I needed to do was go to the office, so that's what I do.

-

"Um. Excuse me."

The blonde girl looked up from her make out session with her boyfriend.

"Can I help you?"

"Um. That's my locker and you guys are kind of sucking face on it."

"Oh. Okay."

The girl then continues to make out with her boyfriend.

"Um. Could you m..."

"Um could you like um stop saying um and go bug someone else?"

I stare at the rude girl in shock.

She rolls her eyes and turns back to her boyfriend.

Without a word I turn away and walk towards the bathroom.

Today's going to be a great day.

I wish I could just disappear.

After coming out of the bathroom I sit in the hallway and bring out my favorite book.

Books are the only thing that lets me escape the horrible world that I live in.

Before I know it the bell rings for first period to begin. I pack up my things and head to my first period.

You know in movies and tv shows when a new kid walks into the room and the whole class turns and looks at them. Well let's just say that is not how it really goes.

When I walk into my first period the whole class is talking to each other and the only thing you can hear is chatter.

The teacher, Mr. Thomas, sees me and motions me over to his desk.

"Are you Elizabeth Cumbers?" He asks.

"Y-yes." I stutter.

"Okay. So this is English and you can have a seat over there."

I turn and walk to the back of the class, where he pointed and sit down.

The kids haven't quieted down any by the time the tardy be rings.

Mr. Thomas gets up and writes an assignment on the board. I look around to find that no one is doing it. Without another thought about it I pull out my notebook and get to work.

First period is over before I know it and the bell rings for everyone to leave. I wait until most of the class has filed out and then make my way to the door.

I round the corner and walk right into something.

When I look up all I can see are icy blue eyes and a lip ring.

authors note: okay so this is the first real chapter and I'm pretty happy with it sooo. Oh and the picture on the side is Luke in this chapter.
