Tony and I were running in the compound in search of Steve as we reached his room I tried to unlock it was locked from the other side so I went up straight to break it. I could see Steve who was earlier asleep waking up with the noise.
"Hey guys, what happened?" He said in a husky voice.
"Are you alright?" I hurried towards the side of his bed and asked him.
"I think so." He said. He don't have any idea what was happening.
"When was the last time you met Carter ?"
"This weekend."
"I asked for the true answer."
"Tonight." He said with a pause.
"What were you doing?"
"That's none of your business." He said not being rude but being confused of me asking about his personal life.
"Rogers this is important!" Tony said describing the urgency in the situation of the moment.
"The thing you do with you your girlfriend when you meet her at night." He replied.
"Did she do anything else ?" Tony asked.
"Not in such, she was just telling me about her last mission when I said I am feeling sleepy so she left..." He didn't complete himself as a felt something in his arm. "Ouch!"
Tony now sat down on bed and grabbed Steve's arm.
"Hey easy man, It's hurting."
Rogers had some sort of blue mark on his arm it was not any bruise. Tony look at the mark and said something to E.D.I.T.H which was out of my capability of understand. As the AI replied Tony's face was more tensed.
"What did it said ?" I said.
Tony did not reply as he was still not out of his shock.
"Tony what did that damn thing said !?"
"He needs to get to the lab immediately. He might loose his powers or worse he could die. Wake Banner up. I'll get him to the lab."
Without waiting for a second I went straight out of the room and her it towards the direction of Banner's room.
Oh god what is happening. I was making my steps faster and faster when I suddenly bumped into something.
"Hey you're still not asleep?" Bucky asked.
I don't want him to know about this. Atleast not now. He already is going through a lot.
"Yes." I said with hesitation. He looked up and down and then said," You alright? You're sweating."
"I just- I got to go on an urgent mission."
"Oh, I'm sorry for interrupting. Good luck." He said giving me a way to walk. I went straight up to his room.
"Hey Bruce!" I knocked, more like I was about about to make a hole in the door.
"Coming... Yeah ?" He said coming out.
"We need your help now." With this I took his hand and walked straight to the lab. "Everything alright Y/n ?"
"No, it's not."
We reached to the lab where Tony was already looking upto Steve's health.
"This does not look good." He said.
"What is it ? Tell me !" I was barely able to speak and was shivering.
"Let me and Bruce handle it, you wait outside." He said pushing me out of the room.
"No wai-" He said J.A.R.V.I.S to close the door.
God what is happening. I sat down on the floor as I wasn't able to stand anymore.
Sharon! That bitch! She will regret this.
My head was buried in my hands, it's been five hours and nobody came out of that place. I see the doors opening. I rushed towards the lab.
"What did you find? Is he alright? Tell me!" I said tears dropping from my face.
"He don't have time. Steve does not have his powers anymore but this not the biggest problem. Venom is spreading all over his body. He will die." Tony said he almost had tears in his eyes saying that, it could be visible from his glasses.
"Tell me there's a way out."
He stayed silent.
"TELL ME!"
"We tried everything possible, nothing can be done."
"We even asked for help to Shuri from Wakanda. She said it's too late now." Banner started speaking.
No this can't happen. This not-no.
"Tony you have to do something. You're a genius. You the biggest brain on the planet. I know you- please do something. This can't - can't. This is all my fault. I can't. I am the problem. This is all my fau--"
"Y/N!" Tony said shaking me.
"Nothing is your fault. It's just... Sometimes we-we don't win."
"Stop Tony! You can't say that! You fought Thanos. You have to-"
"You have to except the truth Y/n."
I almost fell to the ground when Bruce caught me.
For a minute there was silence in the room.
"If there could've been any possible way out. What could've it be ?"
"There's no way. We might have had a hope if we had Steve's blood. His blood from the time when he was just injected. But you know, it is forbidden to take the blood of a super soldier, specially in the time when Steve got his serum."
With this I lost every hope. I walked out of the lab, crying. I was walking when I heard some footsteps. Nobody knows about Steve yet, so I have to act normal. Atleast for now. I wiped my tears and made my face look normal as much as possible.
"Hi, you're back to from the mission that quick?" I saw Bucky standing there with the most charming smile, his baby blue eyes reflecting the happiest I have seen him after the winter soldier program. His eyes had that spark back, that spark back from the 40s.
He was looking at me, waiting for my reply when I hugged him tight as it couldn't control the urge.
He didn't realise for a second of what just happened then he hugged me back and before pulling away he patted my head.
"Hey doll, are you alright?" He said cupping my cheekbones.
"I had just- I had a mission involving HYDRA. It was terrible." I lied. He pulled me back for a tight hug as he realised I needed one.
"Do you want to change your mood ?" He said across my ear.
"Yes, yes I do."
I know I said myself to keep my distances from Bucky but whenever I think my life couldn't get any worse, God comes up with even worse possible shit. For now I just needed a loved one near me.
He pulled and gave me peck on my forehead.
"What about we go to a restaurant?"
He asked.
"Okay."
