Batalla De La Muerte Part 1

Erebus was pleased with how far his son was getting and how he was really shaping up to be the leader he wanted him to be. However, there's only so many people he can fight that he can really let lose on and fight and the knights he made Xalgo fight we're getting too easy. He tried his prisoners and even some enslaved workers who seemed to be somewhat of a challenge. They we're all too easy. Diablo while not taking it as serious as he could've was definitely showing his strength by meeting the same physical and fire bending strength as his brother though a little weaker and sloppier. He still proved he wasn't to be a pushover weakling. It almost eared Diablo a crumb of respect from Erebus..almost. Erebus was looking for any given chance to pit the two against each other. Any reason to call for a Batalla de la muerte. He wanted a newer, stronger opponent for Xalgo and he wanted to let go of dead weight. A win win. Finally, when Diablo was caught speaking with one of the enslaved imp girls, Erebus knew it was his moment of opportunity. He had Xalgo plant packed bags hidden away, made him talk with Diablo giving fake support for his new 'girlfriend' and made Diablo think it was his idea to run away with the imp while Erebus made it easier for Diablo to sneak away to see his peasant girl. It was not only illegal at the time for royalty to marry into peasantry but it would be eternal humiliation for the prince and the king which everyone knew Erebus would never allow his name to be tarnished in such a way. One day, he finally made his move. He caught them on their scheduled night of walking the empty gardens and giving the young imp a break from her torture in the only way Diablo knew how. Erebus caught them just as they made it out and called conspiracy against the king as the evidence was pulled out. Diablo was absolutely mortified and was pulled away from the girl as she was pulled from him. He would later witness the death of the girl for "attempting to elope and marry royalty". Diablo was forced to decapitate her... after her execution it was announced for Diablos punishment that he would be called in for a Batalla de la muerte...against his own brother. Just when diablo thought he'd gone through enough pain he would now have to physically fight against his stronger older brother to the death. When out of sight from everyone Carlotta pleaded with Erebus not to do this and call off the fight but he refused. Said it was "time to put the strongest, best son forward and get rid of the unneeded spare." Carlotta tried to fight back verbally but it ended in a slap and threats of taking diablos place. Knowing she can't kill her own kid she stayed silent.
