I've always had a problem, that being, not liking to be touched. If someone rubbed their shoulder against mine, I would squeal and would quickly enrage. I've never hugged, never kissed, never held hands, because I hated that warm tingle of another cell touching my body. My body was mine.
Though there was one person I allowed to touch me, not always always, not hug, or kiss, or hold hands. This boy was named Colby Brock. My best-friend. I would allow him to pat my shoulders or caress my hair, one time we held hands for 5 seconds before I jerked away.

I trusted Colby, with my whole heart. I did truly love that boy, which also wasn't very common.

"Sam, do you know the answer to the warm up?" Colby asked, turning to me. His warm, minty breath tickled my cheek, making me flinch.
"Yes, I do" I replied, not making eye contact, Colby sighed and slouched in his chair.
"Give me please, it's too hard" Colby said, turning out to me.

"No Colby, it's PEMDAS, we're juniors, it's not hard" I explained, though Colby whined, throwing his head down on the table.
"Pleaseee, I forgot it!" Colby whined again. I sighed and made sure the teacher wasn't here. When it was clear, I leaned my body over to Colby and laid my head on his shoulder.
"Sam!! Stop being like this, and help me!" Colby giggled, I laughed back, leaning back up and grabbing Colby's pen.

"Look, what come first in PEMDAS, always?" I asked him, a very obvious question, in which he quickly shrugged away. The equation is
'2+(45x3)=' this was third grade math, and super easy.
"The parentheses come first Colby, then multiplication, after that is?" I said, to which Colby shrugged again.
"Exponents, then Division, then addition, and subtraction" I explained, looking into Colby's electric blue, confused eyes. I smiled at him, and wrote down all I had just explained.

"Nerd" Colby claimed, I sarcastically gasped and he laughed. I then watched as Colby began solving the equation himself. I smiled.
"Good, now do it yourself next time" I laughed, he smiled and I could sense his stare even after I looked away.
"You're so pretty, Sam" Colby whispered just loud enough for me to hear. I paused and looked at him.
"You're the one talking?" I replied, Colby laughed and admired my smile.

"Yes, I'm not pretty, I'm handsome you're pretty. you're a pretty boy" Colby claimed, making me smile. My stomach twisted and butterflies migrated around my body. Oh, what was this feeling? This feeling made me fall down, down, down deep in my thoughts. Then the bell rung, I threw my stuff in my bag and began walking to exit the class.

I didn't have this next class with Colby, but I did know that he always took a bathroom break during the period, so I went to the bathroom 20 minutes into class. That was the exact time I remember seeing Colby in the bathroom last time.

As I walked into the bathroom, I saw Colby washing his hands. With his other friend, named Elton, I hated that boy. Really, hate is a strong word, but he made me so uncomfortable, he was a senior, and though that's not a big difference, he still was the dominant one. My heart sank even deeper into my chest when he looked me up and down.
"What is this, a freshman?" Elton laughed as he dried his hands with the thin brown paper towels.

I knew I was smaller than average for my age, but I was no Freshman!
"No! I'm a junior! Much like Colby!" I complained, crossing my arms.
"Oh how I thought a boy who looks like you would be an angel" Elton teased, continuing to approach me.
"Elton, what are you doing? Leave him alone" Colby said, putting his nervous hand on Eltons shoulder.

Elton then did the unwanted. He grabbed my hand and jerked it upward to take a look at god knows what.
"Elton stop, he doesn't like that"
"Doesn't like what? Me holding his cute little hand?"
"Actually, yes"
My hand shook and I grew even more uncomfortable in this situation.
"Don't touch me!" I yelled, making Elton jump back. I held my hand, like it was fragile.

"You baby! I was only holding your hand!" Elton said, before turning to exit. But before Elton could leave, Colby jerked him around and slapped his face.
"Colby!" I yelled, watching as Elton's mouth fell agape.
"What was that for?!"
"Don't touch someone before they give you permission!"
"How was I supposed to know that your little boyfriend didn't want me to touch him?!" Elton exclaimed back.

"It was quite obvious!" Colby yelled, Elton ran off eventually, leaving us alone.
"I'm sorry that happened, Sam" Colby apologized, approaching me.
"It's okay, at least he didn't hurt me, he's right anyway, I'm a baby" I said, looking at Colby, hoping he would understand.
"You're not a baby, Sam" Colby laughed. He held his hand out as a way of saying 'may I' I nodded and placed my smaller hand in his.

He brought my hand up to his mouth and gently, oh so gently, kissed the back of it. It made me good tingle. That's when I realized, I love when Colby does this. He brought me into a hug and I accepted, hugging him back.
