"Morning, sleepy head," Elena said as she snuggled into Damon's arm. Damon yawned as he stretched his arms.
"Hey, babe," Damon said and gave her his half-smile, "Ready to go back to Mystic Falls?"
"Of course. I miss that place and I miss your house..."
"You mean our house?" Damon cut her off as he kissed her lips and neck. Elena chuckled as she kissed him back.
"Yes. Our house," she whispered in his ear and pressed her lips onto his. As their kiss became intense, Elena stopped him.
"Okay, time out. Time out," she pulled back and laid her head on Damon's chest and he caressed her hair.
"Damon, do you love me?" Elena asked softly.
"What kind of question is that? Of course I love you. I love you with all my heart," he answered and landed a quick kiss on her forehead.
"Then you would do anything for me?"
"Anything," Damon answered and smiled.
"Do you remember when I said I want to have kids?" Elena asked.
"Yeah?" Damon furrowed his eyebrows, not knowing where that conversation might go because he knew Elena was fully understood that vampires couldn't have kids.
"I was thinking... Since we can't have a kid... Can we adopt one?" Elena asked nonchalantly.
"What? No. Why would we do that? We are happy together and adopting a kid is going to ruin everything. I'm not going to let a kid ruining our relationship," Damon stated with a scowl.
"Am I sensing jealousy?" Elena smirked.
"Pfffthh... No," Damon scoffed.
"Mm-hmm. Sure," Elena said, still smirking.
"I'm not jealous and we're done talking about this. Let's just go home," Damon said and got up from the bed. He put on his white t-shirt and his usual leather jacket.
-----
Elena got out from the car as soon as Damon pulled the car up in front of Salvatore boarding house.
"We're home," Elena said.
Damon used his vampire speed and stood beside his lovely wife.
"We are," he said, holding her hand as he leading her into the house.
"It's like we were never left. The house is exactly the same as we left it," Elena commented as they walked inside the house.
"Exactly," he said and put his hands around her waist and pulled her closer. He kissed her gently, "You want something? I can make you pancakes... Or pancakes... or more pancakes."
Elena chuckled and kissed him back, "Pancake sounds good."
He smirked. "Pancake it is," he agreed. After taking his jacket off, he used his vampire speed to get the groceries bags from the car. They had made a little trip to the supermarket on the way home. When Damon dropped the bags on the kitchen counter, Elena had already sat down on one of the bar chairs. She watched her husband carefully as he took out eggs, flour, and all the ingredients to make pancakes from the bags.
"Damon," Elena started, "About what I said this morning about adopting a kid..."
"The answer is still no, Elena," he cut her off as he whisked the eggs.
"Oh, come on! You're going to be daddy Salvatore," Elena said and let out a small laugh, "Do you really think a child could ruin our relationship? We've been together for what? Over 150 years. I will always love you, Damon, and you know that. My love for you will never change."
Damon looked up and gaze at his wife. He knew Elena had always wanted to have kids, but her wish was never going to be come true because he turned her into a vampire.
"Are you sure, Elena? Having a kid is a huge responsibility," Damon said.
"I am ready, Damon. I want to have a kid. I want to be a mother and I want to raise that kid with you. We're going to be a happy, normal family," Elena smiled as she said that last part.
A smile grew on Damon's face. He could see happiness in Elena's eyes when she said that. "You realize we're far from being normal, right?" Damon commented as he mixed all the ingredients to make pancakes.
"But maybe when that kid becomes a part of our family, we are close to become a normal family. So what do you say?" Elena asked.
Damon shrugged his shoulders. "Alright, babe, if that's really what you want," Damon answered and flipped a pancake in the pan.
"Really?" Elena asked, a little bit taken aback at how fast Damon changed his mind.
"Yes, really. If that will make you happy, then why not?" Damon smiled at his wife.
Elena got up from her seat and approached him. She put her arms around his waist and hugged him from behind.
"Thank you," Elena whispered in his ear.
Damon turned his body around and found her grinning from ear to ear. He had never seen her this happy for so long and it warmed his heart to see her like that.
"You know I'd do whatever it takes to make you happy," Damon smiled.
-----
The next day, the rays of the sun penetrated through the window and Elena sat up on her bed. She turned her head around and didn't find her husband on the other side of the bed.
"Damon?" she called him.
In a split second, Damon was already in the bedroom carrying a tray full of foods, complete with two glasses of warm blood. He sets it on the bed in front of her.
"What's all these?" Elena asked, puzzled.
"Happy anniversary, Elena," he said and landed a chaste, gentle kiss on her lips, "You don't think I would forget, do you?"
Elena looked at him with awe and pulled him for another kiss. "Happy anniversary, Damon. I love you."
"I love you too."
Elena took a sip of warm blood from the mug as Damon lowered himself onto the side of the bed, next to her.
"I already called an orphanage, the one that's not too far from the town and informed them we're going to visit them today. So, get ready to be a mother, Elena, cause it's happening today," Damon broke the news with a grin. Elena put her glass down and wrapped her hands around his neck.
"Thank you for making this come true, Damon," she whispered.
After breakfast in bed, they got ready and Elena couldn't hide her agitation and excitement.
"Which one of these that makes me look motherly? This one," she took a dark blue knee-length dress, "or this one?" she took black sleeveless sheath dress.
Damon smirked as he realized his wife was nervous. "It doesn't matter what you wear. You will always look beautiful and hot," Damon said and gave her a wink.
"Are you trying to seduce me, Damon Salvatore? You know it's not going to work, right?"
"Mm-hmm," he winked again.
"Damon... Be serious for one second. I need this to be perfect. This is one of the most important days in our immortal lives."
"Elena," he said and took both of her hands in his, "Don't be nervous. It's going to be alright. We're going to be parents. It's not something you should worry about. It's something you should be happy about."
Elena took a deep breath and nodded her head. "Yeah, you're right. It's going to be fine."
"Both dresses look great on you," Damon said.
Elena finally decided to wear the black sleeveless sheath dress with her black high heels. They got in the car and Damon drove to the orphanage.
