After the long day of school, I meet Professor Lupin in his office at five o'clock. I stand outside his door. I knock on it once, twice, the noise echoing off the corridor walls.
"Come in, come in," I hear a frail voice say. With the order, I open the giant door and shut it quietly. I see the professor sitting behind his desk, he looks older, more fragile. His office is full of books. All kinds and varieties of colour brighten up the room.
"Thank you, professor, now may I ask you why you asked me to be here?"
"Hold your horses, come, please sit," He motions towards the seat in front of his desk.
"Yes professor."
"Would you like tea, Celeste?"
I see the kettle boiling, (which is strange in a professor's office) and a assortment of tea bags on his bookshelf. "Sure, thank you." I gratefully say, the late autumn is quite cold this year. Professor Lupin takes out two china cups, and places a tea bag in each. Once the kettle is finished boiling, he pours the water into the china, steam rising from the cups. The professor pushes one cup over to me.
I thank him and begin to stir the cup. We place the teabags onto the side. I observe the room a little more. To be frank, it isn't the neatest place I've seen. There are papers sprawled all over the floor and desk, mirrors are scattered across the walls. They must be important to him, in some way. A small flask lies open on the pile of mess.
"What's that?" I point out. I know it's not polite, but I can't help but being curious.
"A drink, from Professor Snape."
Snape?
But I also notice some marks, scratch marks, I'm about to tell him that I think one of the creatures of the castle broke into his office when he begins talking.
"Now, (Y/N), the reason why I called you here was to talk about what happened earlier today."
I groan. "Well, what if we do something else?" I sarcastically say. "Look, what are those? The creatures in your tank? The-"
"Those are Grindylows."
"Oh, okay."
"Celeste, may you tell me what happened once the boggart came out of the cabinet?"
"Okayyy. Well, I guess I thought the boggart thingy didn't work on me, right? So I went to tell you, and, and then guess what-"
"Miss Celeste, I don't seem to understand what you're saying."
"Oh."
I try to go for a more 'formal approach'. And I tell Professor Lupin all about how I thought the boggart didn't work on me, but instead, everything disappeared. I told him about the Mirror of Erised, how I saw two people in it.
How they looked like me, but not like my parents.
And how they disappeared before I could reach out to them.
The professor sighs, and purses his lips together into a straight line. "I see. You may go, (Y/N)."
That's it?
"That's it?"
"You are excused, Miss Celeste."
"Wow, so nothing like, oh! You're blah blah blah, or, oh! You are the best witch in Hogwarts-"
"(Y/N)."
"My bad."

I feel the cool breeze of Autumn wind bite at my cheeks. Weeks of dull school has passed. Finally, it's the weekend. October 31st. I sit on one of the benches outside in the courtyard, reading 'Unfogging the Future' by Cassandra Vablatsky for Divination. It's a useless, and phoney subject, I know, but I still get my homework done.
Harry's off to talk to Oliver Wood, quidditch season is starting soon. From the corner of my eye, I see a orangey colour bob towards me. I close my book and look up. "Hey, Ronald," I say, pushing the rest of my books off the bench to make room for my best friend. He's in a knit up green sweater, complimenting his hair nicely, and khaki pants.
"How are you, Celeste?" He says, and sits on the other side of the bench.
"Alright - just finishing my homework,"
"Hm?"
"Yeah."
Ron sighs. "Gosh, why don't you ask 'Mione to do it for you? I could never do homework to save my life."
"Well, Ronald. Being best friends with Mimi means studying for your OWL's in third year."
"OWL's!?" He looks flabbergasted. "Those are in two years!"
"I know. Which means you better start studying now,"
"You won't even know what's going to be on the examinations."
"The thing is, Weasley, I really don't mind asking the twins to teach me what they're learning."
"Wh- What?"
I laugh, shake my head, and revert my focus back to chapter twenty-eight.
Ron and I stay like that for a while. It's silent, except for the noise of the wind and my occasional flipping of pages. How long must've it been - only thirty minutes when I heard the clocktower strike twelve times.
I hear some ruffles of footsteps, precisely two pairs. "(Y/N), Ron!" The two call, and I groggily look up from my book again. I feel my expression change when I meet eyes with a certain, raven-haired boy.
"Haz! Mimi!" I wave, noticing a piece of paper in each of their hands.
"Professor McGonagall wouldn't sign Harry's paper for Hogsmade," Hermione states, looking at Harry's form with no signature scribbled on. Harry fiddles with it uncertainly. I reach into my satchel, trying to find my form. After around a minute or two, I pull it out, hoping that it's signed.
Thankfully, it is. It reads:
SIGNATURE OF PARENT NO.1: ᝰ.ᐟ NAME: CHARLES AARON CELESTE
SIGNATURE OF PARENT NO.2: 𓏲ּ〽 NAME: AMY JUDE CELESTE
I grin, looking down at my parents writing. Gosh, how I miss them. Ron pulls out a piece of parchment out of his pocket, it being another copy of the Hogsmade form. I look at Harry somberly.
"Y'know what - I wouldn't mind missing a visit to Hogsmade, I can stay with you, Haz!" I suggest, facing Harry.
"No.. no, you go enjoy your time, I'm gonna stay in my dorm."
"Are you sure?" Ron asks.
"I'll definitely bring you lots of sweets!" I say, as Hermione, Ron, and I line up to get our forms checked by Professor McGonagall. I remember not to forget my satchel, and I loop it around my shoulder.
Harry waves, and shoves his hands into his pockets, heading back up to the castle. The crowd of students disappear past a corner, and as the three of us catch up, I try to spare a glance at Harry. But he's gone.
Don't worry, Haz. I'll be sure to get you a lot, lot of sweets.
