Black Rabbit
vlevxnChapter 23: Back to You
Summary:
Jimin explores the idea of alphaness, and the Unfortunate Demise of Rocky
Notes:It feels like every other chapter is tagged with character death, but we kind of already know what becomes of our not-so dear friend Rocky...
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)Chapter Text
Jimin returns to the Black Rabbit swirling with emotion. He can't quite decide on a single way to feel about anything. Every single situation he's been caught up in over the past handful of months has grown dreadfully complicated, leaving him tangled in a gnarled mass of confusion. He could have gone on with his life quietly—or, as quiet as it could've been. His existence still would have been working himself to the bone for the sake of paying his father's debt. Now it's just potentially committing murder for it.What he really wants to do is ask Kalkaska about the Haeun that Zodiac mentioned, but he hasn't returned to the hotel since last night. It might be wise to give him some time to recover after the... festivities. Killing anyone you're close to must cause some kind of psychological damage, and Jimin doesn't want to be the one to push him by essentially telling him to get back to work.
Zodiac is an entirely different can of worms altogether. Jimin doesn't know what happened to him after the boathouse collapsed. The likelihood that he survived the roof cave-in is high, but what of him after that? Jimin stabbed him, so to make it out of the lake and back to civilization before he bled out would've been a feat. But no one—not Dutch, not Jeongguk—was acting like he'd died, so he must still be alive. Jimin expects to run into him sooner or later, since they made a deal, but he's still trying to come up with something to trade instead of the baby's adoptive parents. Haeun can't be worth two lives.
When Jimin enters Jeongguk's suite, he's mildly surprised to see him awake and milling around the kitchen, but nearly aghast at the fact that he's wearing sweats. Black Balenciaga sweats, but sweats nonetheless. Jeongguk drops whatever he's doing as the door swings open and makes a beeline for Jimin, who allows himself to be pulled in for a vigorous scenting.
"Missed you," he breathes harshly. "Hate waking up without you."
Jimin tries to scent back a little, but it's difficult with Jeongguk so far into his neck. He smells a little... off. Not quite like himself. "You had a rough night. I wanted to let you sleep."
"Wake me up anyway. I just wanna know you're here."
"Needy alpha," Jimin teases, even though he doesn't really mean it. Jeongguk has been through a lot; he's allowed to be anxious. They both are.
