My alarm woke me at 5 am

It had rained yesterday and it was still dark and gloomy out but I was on a schedule for today. I got up out of bed and walked into my bathroom, brushed my teeth, and washed my face. I thought about all of the things I had to do today.

Usually, I'm not organized and I just wake up whenever but this was my week of change, I wanted something refreshing. Especially after my break up with Charlotte. It was bad and I did love her so it was pretty hard for me but I am bouncing back and getting my life together, with the help of my family and my friends.

I went back into my room, into my closet, and grabbed a hoodie and some sweatpants, dodger waited for me as I put my clothes on, he was all in on this new schedule thing too.

I put Dodger in his harness and we walked outside of the door. The chilly air hit my face and I got a whiff of that after-rain earthy smell. The ground was wet and the street lights were still on. I waited for cars to pass so I could start Dodger and I's jog.

We crossed the street went through a couple of neighborhoods and then took a break for water. we started on our way back and as a reward, I always take Dodger to the park down the street from home. Dodger always found a stick to play with and he put it in my lap demanding to play fetch. I threw the stick far and he chased after it.

I pulled out my phone

The time read 6:50 and I had a missed call from my mom, we always had our daily phone calls in the morning or before we went to sleep, and I clicked on the notification to call her back.

"Good morning Ma"

"Good morning my sweetie are you out on your jog still?"

"Dodger and I are at the park, we're about to hit up Cozy Cup" Chris spoke as Dodger ran back to him

"Okay, sweetie well I'm just checking in, your father and I are going on a brunch date today, he's still sleeping."

"That sounds fun Ma, is it a surprise? I know Dad loves to surprise you."

"It is a surprise!! A surprise I cannot wait for."

"Have fun Ma let me know how it goes later?"

"Of course I will sweetie you be safe now."

"You too, love you"

"Love ya more hun"

I always enjoyed our little chats, even if they were just simple little talks.

"Dodger let's go bud!" I yelled as my voice echoed throughout the empty park.

The Cozy Cup

Dodger and I made it to the cozy cup, a coffee shop we go to every morning, and got the same thing it had become such a normal thing now that the cashier knows our usual.

"Good morning Diane how ya doing today," I said with a cheerful smile. Diane was 19 she got this job because she saving up for a car. I only know this because I spotted her while out at a carnival with my family once. she also loves Dodger.
