Chris opened the door to his big home, both of them walking inside, as he kicked his shoes off  "Make yourself comfortable, I'm gonna go get you some water" Chris told Jane as he walked toward his kitchen and disappeared

Jane took this time to slide off her heels and gaze upon his gorgeous home. Although it was big it was cozy, with blankets and pillows over the couch, and paintings all over his walls, his sacred living room space felt so lived in as there were papers, crumpled and written on,  and sticky notes that were organized by color with pen drawn logos on them, the scene looked as though he had been preparing for something big at work, soon Chris came back with a beer and a glass of water.

"Here ya go" he handed Jane the glass watching her sip it

"Are you preparing for something at work?" Jane asked hesitantly, not wanting to pry but genuinely curious about his beautiful mess

"Oh, this... yeah we- my company is thinking about doing a rebranding, and since I'm Chief Executive, I'm in charge of the whole damn thing" Chris spoke, nodding his head.

"Really? That sounds cool Chris," she told him honestly, taking another sip of her water and nodding her head

Jane knew about what Chris did for work since they had talked about it on their first date. He was the CEO of this big important company called Evans Global Enterprises. Chris told Jane about how he had to be very responsible and that his job came with lots of ups and downs but he truly enjoyed what he did.

"Your moves were really good tonight," Chris said leaning against the couch looking up at Jane through his eyelashes, and smirking

"Oh please you sure do know how to make a girl crazy for you on the dance floor" Jane giggled, her hair moving back and forth as she did so.

"You know once I pretended I knew how to salsa dance and let's just say I ended up stepping on a few toes... literally."

The curly-headed girl cracked up at Chris's comment, almost choking on her water

"I can totally picture that, but tonight you were really good Mr.Evans." Chris watched Jane set down her finished glass of water and stand closer to him than she had before.

"Tonight was fun" his low but deep voice gave Jane goosebumps while he whispered in her ear.

"I'm glad you had fun." Jane brought an arm up to Chris's shoulder turning her attention to his lips, while Chris engulfed his arm tightly around her slim waist, moving his hand down and squeezing her soft behind.

"Chris..." She stared into the man's eyes catching sight of his mischievous glint as a smirk spread across his face

"Jane" he spoke back moving closer to her face and closing the gap with a rather passionate but sexy kiss. His hands moved up and down her back and as the intensity of the kiss grew, he moved his hands up to the back of her head pushing her into the kiss. Jane's heart rate quickened and she could now feel her arousal soaking through her panties. Her hands went down to undo Chris's belt, brushing up against his hard-on, causing Chris to groan while he moved to her neck, kissing and sucking on her sensitive spots, while she whimpered under him.

"Chris? Who is this?"

The two parted from their intimate moment staring at the blonde woman who stood in the doorway of the living room, her eyes immediately scanned over to Jane, looking at her up and down. Jane's cheeks turned red once she noticed the woman saw her and Chris getting hot and heavy. Jane couldn't help but notice how beautiful the woman was. She had long blonde hair that fell into curls in front of her shoulders, and captivating blue eyes and Jane could tell that she was angry since her eyebrows were scrunched up. She wore a knee-length emerald dress that showed off a small round baby bump, and her arms were folded across her chest.

"Uh- Charlotte this is Jane, Jane this is Charlotte... my ex-girlfriend" Chris spoke pointing to either woman as he introduced them.

"Hi," Jane extended her hand and smiled at the woman but quickly removed herself once the woman scrunched her face up and decided not to shake her hand

"Chris, can I talk to you?" Charlotte squinted at him, looking down at his undone belt and pants.

"I'll be back in a sec Jane," Chris said grabbing her shoulder and making himself look presentable again as he followed after Charlotte

Jane walked over to the door and grabbed her shoes and purse, but she couldn't help but pause once she had overheard Chris, and charlottes conversation from the kitchen

"Why is she here Chris."

"Charlotte this is my house. I didn't know I had to ask you if I could have someone over."

"So what, you're fucking her?"

"Yeah, Charlotte I am, and I don't appreciate that shit you did earlier when she tried to shake your hand. I like Jane and as long as you're here under my roof, you will respect her. And if you feel as though you can't do that, you are more than welcome to leave. Am I clear?"

There was a pause when Charlotte didn't say anything

"Am I clear Charlotte?"

"Yeah, whatever."

Jane stood at the door trying to decide if she should slip out quickly or just tell Chris she was going home, but her time ran short once he approached her

"I'm so sorry Jane, you didn't deserve any of that" Chris spoke honestly rubbing a hand over his forehead

"No Chris it's fine, I'm gonna get going okay? Goodnight Chris" She kissed Chris on the cheek and walked out the door getting in Tara's car that waited in front of the big house. Chris watched as Jane walked to the car, got in, and drove away. He couldn't help but think that her goodnight kiss was a goodbye kiss.

"Okay, first what the fuck Jane? You didn't tell me he was rich" Tara said smirking in her seat

"Yeah sorry- he yeah..." Jane leaned her head against the window staring ahead at the houses down the block

"Oh baby" Tara reached out for Jane's knee and rubbed it while taking a glance at her. "Talk to me."

Jane's overwhelming emotions had slapped her in the face, her voice quivering as she struggled to articulate the storm raging within her. She felt a lump in her throat, constricting her words and choking back the anguish threatening to overflow. Despite the chaos consuming her, there was a haunting beauty in the vulnerability of her tears, a rawness that spoke volumes without the need for words. Tara sat quietly letting her best friend cry until she was ready to talk

"I- just- I don't know what I want" her voice cracked and tears fell into her lap, "I thought me and him could have something but his stupid ex had to come and ruin everything and now I don't even wanna look at him anymore" Jane was exaggerating and spitting the first words that had came to mind she knew that she'd never get tired of looking at Chris's handsome chiseled face and it had pained her that she couldn't talk to him about how she was feeling.

"I knew it was a bad idea from the start, I mean we literally had sex on our first date and now shit has just gone downhill from there, this is why I do not get involved with people Tara, this is the kind of fucked up shit that happens to me," Jane said waving her hands around angrily in the air.

"I'm here for you okay baby? Take your time and remember that you deserve someone who values and respects you. It's okay to feel frustrated, disappointed, and angry. You are not alone sweetie, I've got your back and I want you to remember how special you are Jane. You're so kind-hearted and intelligent.

"Thank you, Tara, I'm so lucky to have you" Jane smiled, her cheeks red and her eyes glossy

Jane didn't know what she was going to do, she wanted to be with Chris, and their feelings for each other were clearly mutual but she couldn't stop thinking about his ex and how he had a child on the way.

She knew the right decision was to end things with him and if so? Why did it feel so wrong?
