Isabel Potter had always known that something was out of place. But she has never known what. Ever since her brother and sister in law's demise, she knew that the story put out just didn't seem quite true. No matter what way they put it, she had always known that there was more to the story of their betrayal than she was aware of. Unfortunately the lack of knowledge had led her into a type of mad stupor over the years. The only thing tethering her to sanity, an addiction to working and researching. Or perhaps it was not what was tethering her to sanity. Perhaps sanity was long gone. Perhaps it was tethering her to life.

The day that Lily and James Potter were cold-heartedly murdered, her life went upside down. Sirius Black, the one she loved like no other, had been sent to prison for life, accused of murder. She still couldn't believe it. Peter Pettigrew, the tiny boy who had been one of their own, met death after his life being upheaved by their death. Remus Lupin, the werewolf who had the best conversations, was forced to temporarily flee due to new restrictions upon them. Lily Potter, her best friend and sister if not through blood, gone forever. Worst of all, James Potter, the boy who had been her play mate, and became her brother. James Potter, dead. James Potter one of the purest, kindest wizarad's in the world,A thought too painful to think. Something that the description of kindness did not deserve. James Potter deserved the world, but James Potter had it taken from him before his son could talk.

That day led her to her worst year. Drunk every night. Smoking more than the rest of the world combined. Drugs so strong, they would make her pass out. The only thing trying to hold on to her life was the care of Minerva Mcgonagle. She had traced Isabel Potter down in the bars, dragged her out and given her a sobering potion that was practically useless due to the extremity of the alcohol, drugs, and more.

Isabel Potter still did these things, but, under the assistance of Minerva Mcgonagle, she was presented with work she could throw her head into and release her stress in another form. She was a Professor at Beauxbatons Academy for the next 5 years. Due to staffing shortages at Hogwarts she taught in the transfiguration department and as a Defense against the dark arts teacher for the next 4 years, as well as subbing for other positions. Proceeding this, she returned to Beauxbatons for the next two years while also putting more work towards her research with the ministry.

Many would think about why she had never taken part in her nephew's life. She knew he was alive and well, but she just couldn't be there for him all the way. She didn't even know if she could look at him without reverting entirely to her old ways. Along with this, she had been deemed unable to care for a child because of her addictions. If she were to care for him, she would want to be reliable, and she knew she couldn't. Still, she knew she must one-day face him. It sadenned her, making her feel like she was betraying Lilly and James in death by not caring for their son, but it was impossible.

She had gone and snuck into his protection wards to see him years ago. It was blissfully pure and painfully crippling at the same time. To summarize the events that had occurred next, She was found in a bar 4 days later smelling of whiskey and ciggarettes.

All in all Isabel wished she could be there for her nephew. But she just couldn't. Not mentally or legally could she be there for her godson, and it hurt her. But life moves on, so, so must she.

It was the summer of 1993 and Isabel Potter was sitting in her apartment in London reviewing case files for the ministry at 6 in the morning, when an owl swooped in carrying in the Daily Prophet. When she saw the cover she almost fainted.

SIRIUS BLACK ESCAPED FROM AZKABAN

Mass murderer Sirius Black broke out of Azkaban prison in the early hours of yesterday morning. The Wizarding community must be wary when approaching. Black is a mad, ruthless criminal, and should not be approached.

Black's escape could be fueled by a want to reunite himself with You-Know-Who making his escape dangerous. The muggle Prime Minister has been warned, and muggles have been told Black is carrying a gun, a metal weapon muggles use to kill each other with.

If any person catches sight of Black, do not approach, and contact the ministry's aurora office immediately.

She quickly read through the article once, twice, and three times. Sirius Black, her love, the one that they say betrayed them, escaped. She had to admit it was quite hot, escaped convict, hard and strong from a life of prison. But when she looked at his photo, her heart broke into a million pieces. The soft luxurious curls that taunted her, so knotted, filthy, and overgrown it was unrecognizable. The mischievous grin that always meant he was up to no good, gone and replaced by that of a ruined man. Those furiously bright blue eyes that were all joking, cold and dead. Sirius Black, looked like a shell of the man she knew. And with a final glance at the paper, she dropped the paper and vanished into thin air.

A/N: This is my first fan fiction so bear with me. In the future, chapters will be way longer but I needed a type of introduction chapter to start off with. I can't decide what to do about her working situation. Originally I was thinking that she'd teach in Hogwarts this year, but now I'm tied between that, her focusing more on her work with the ministry, her sort of having to go on the run with him, or possibly not having her meat Harry until the summer of 5th year and it being a mainly about her work and attempts. I hope that this explains, please comment your opinions on the matter.
