Hey again, another update like I promised. If there is anything you think I can do to improve this story, or that you want to see happen feel free to let me know. Ok enjoy and thanks for reading.
Alexander (P.O.V)
After the second bell went I rushed out of second period and ran down to the garden hoping that Lexi would be there. Instead I found a group of people crowding round my usual group of friends.
"Wow what the hell is goin on?"
Daniella grabbed a hold of my arm and pulled me into the middle of the crowd. "Looks like word spreads fast around here, everyone wants to know what happened and if someone got beat for being gay and if Lex actually attacked someone. I've tried telling everybody that it was just threats both ways but I'm not that loud." She quickly explained
Everyone seemed to be talkin over one another, a few people looked worried but mostly peopled just looked pissed. I recognised most of them as misfits that hung around outside in their own little groups, I guess we really are one big family, but there were more new faces than I expected.
"Yo Alex, how's the kid, nothing happened to him did it?" it was the tall gothic guy from English, the one that gave Lexi his eyeliner, Drake.
"Dunno Drake I'm still lookin for him... there he is, hey Mark.... MARK!.... EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP." I yelled.
Everyone was quiet as I pushed my way through to him. He looked so small and lost in the large crowd of people.
"Mark, has anybody touched you today or said anything at all?" I asked desperately
"No, why?" his voice shook slightly with confusion
I wrapped my arm around his shoulder and let out the breath I hadn't even realised I'd been holding.
Drake joined us ruffling Marks hair with his hand "Damn this is the kid, no wonder Lexi went to bat for him he's adorable."
"Oh my god it was me, she did that for me?" Mark's body started to tremble "There gonna get me, I'm the new school punchin bag. How did they even know?"
The whole group stood watching our exchange, most with shock. I guess they didn't know who Lexi was sticking up for. Davie stood at the edge of the crowd his body trembling with anger, but his eyes, they were just full of fear and remorse. We all knew the chances, when the popular kids pick a target they usually get them at some point, and by the sounds of the Barbie trio, Mark was their new target.
Davie walked over and pulled his shaking brother into his arms, his pleading eyes boring into mine his head shook slightly in denial. "I'm sorry Davie I saw and heard the whole thing." My voice was starting to break.
Drake took over for me "Me too mate, Lexi was amazin by the way. She terrified the bitches. She went from bein a normal quiet straight A lass to like some kinda rock war goddess protectin the innocent. It was like WOW... I mean I was gonna come hang out here with you guys before cos she looks like my kinda chick you know shows her emotions through her clothes, make-up and music, plus she nice to everyone but I dint know she was a hero."
"So why didn't you" I'm not sure who asked just a voice from the crowd
"Well I was friend's wae Ivan..." there were a few murmurs. Almost everyone in the misfits knew Ivan, he used to be one of us. He came out the closet at the end of second year and his parents didn't take it well. He's not gay anymore apparently, yea right, he's also not a misfit. All I know is that he went to camp and never came back the same, Lexi knew more.
"... he told me he was gay and then, well I saw him talkin to Lexi. He kept tellin me how nice you guys were and supportive. Then one day I saw Lexi leaving Mr Buchanan's office shakin his hand, the next day Ivan was ambushed by the school therapist about his sexuality. A few weeks later he was off to straight camp... I kinda figured that gays weren't welcome out here so I stayed away."
