real life, april 2024.

may was a week away, and it had now been 2 full weeks without contact between the two. chris debated everyday, whether he should call her. maybe a text, just something to break the lack of contact. he felt like they both had time, and maybe kylie was doing better.

the distance broke kylie, she woke up and did the same routine each day.  she woke up, showered, laid in bed, played some music, and went back to sleep. sometimes eli was able to slip some food to her sister, which she slowly ate. but kylie was a fraction of her usual self.

"just call her chris, you've been trying all week. so man up and call her." nick yelled at his brother.

"the worst thing is she doesn't answer, she might not be ready yet. you walked out on her, but this is at least an attempt," matt agreed with nick, gesturing to chris.

"fuck, guys i know i messed up. like i know i said we needed space, but i never told her that. and i never wanted the space to be 2 weeks. what if she's done with me? what if its all gone," chris was worrying now, anxiously fidgeting with his phone.

"just call her," matt felt for his brothers worries.

chris unlocked the phone, and pulled his contacts up. he scrolled, to his favorites, and saw her profile picture. he was sad, he was so sad.

ringing my girl💖💍

ring.

ring.

voicemail.

"hi its kylie, im not available at the moment, so please leave a message at the  beep."

beep.

"hey ky, its chris. i know you probably are shocked i called, i know i left things on stupid terms. i didn't mean to not call for as long as i did, im sorry, i really am. i miss you, a lot. i miss seeing you, and i am such an asshole. and if you can forgive me, please call me back."

chris hung up, and held his head in his hands, "voicemail, i have no hope."

"she could be asleep," nick trying to reassure his brother.

eli had hold of kylie's phone, her sister was not in the state to scroll through social media. fans had questioned her disappearance, and the hate grew as well. but when chris's name popped up, eli was torn. she sent it to voicemail, before listening to the message.

"fuck," was all eli could say.

eli debated what to do, but when a couple hours had passed, she felt guilt by not telling her sister.

"hey ky, i brought you some pasta," she opened her sisters bedroom door.

"thanks," kylie smiled, as she got up to grab it.

"oh also, um, chris called. i didn't know if i should tell you, but i wanted you to know."

kylie's eyes widened, "did you answer?"

"no, but he left a voicemail."

"can i listen to it?" kylie looked up, with desperation in her eyes.

"yeah, ill give you privacy."

kylie unlocked her phone, her eyes glossy as she saw his contact. 4 hours ago, he probably thinks im upset. she pressed play, and listened his message.

"please call me back," chris's tone was sad, which made kylie wonder what to do. he sounded sincere, but he also had hurt kylie. she listened to it again, before twiddling her finger over the phone.
