A dreamcatcher. That's the first thing Taehyung's eyes recognize when he wakes up in the foreign setting. The light was harsh, or maybe he was just opening his eyes after a long time.
But when the headache strikes, he couldn't compare it with the sudden pain he felt in his abdomen.
Automatically, he restricts himself from moving for a while. On his second try though, he still manages to sit up atleast, even if it meant taking support of every possible thing he could.
And the next thing his eyes recognized after the dreamcatcher, was Jeon Jungkook.
For some reason, Jungkook was looking down, staring hard at the floor. His arms were crossed over his chest, eyes closed and eyebrows furrowed as if he had some deep thoughts.
"J-J-ung-kook?"
In a flash, Jungkook looks up. Like mentioned before, Jungkook wasn't the one to show emotions. So it took a lot of practice for Taehyung to learn to read his eyes. Because his eyes in particular spoke what his actions or words couldn't.
And there they were. A whirlpool of emotions flowing through his eyes. That defeated look, the look of anger, the look of surprise and then the look of defeat.
"W-wat-er?"
Fortunately, that's all it took Jungkook to be on his toes and present Taehyung with a glass of water near his lips as Jungkook yelled for his guards, possibly standing outside, to rush in a doctor.
"Are you alright now?" His ex-husband asks. Eyebrows creased. "Do you need more water?"
Taehyung shook he head.
"Do you feel pain?"
Taehyung shrugged.
"The doctor will be here in a moment."
From there, it takes a whole minute for Taehyung to gain back his senses fully. With water in his system, he feels himself breathing more openly. And only when he starts to observe his surroundings does he grasp onto the feeling of his hand being held in a very gentle hold.
Three doctors rush in after a while. Two females and a male. One checks up on his pulse and the other two ask him some questions regarding his health. And the entire time, the feeling of his hand being held doesn't go away.
When the doctors leave the room after injecting some syrum in his arm, The two are left alone again. If Taehyung imagined himself being alone with Jungkook after the funeral, he saw them being awkward. Maybe even uncomfortable.
Maybe it was him being a patient that gave so much reassurance to the way he was feeling around Jungkook.
"Is the room fine for you?" Jungkook asks again, and Taehyung gives a look around the previously ignored space. "I would've booked something better but. . . The situation was urgent. They said it may not be convenient to move you to another hospital in this condition but i can set something up if you don't like—"
"Jungkook." He stops him. "It's fine."
". . . You don't have to be here."
"Huh?"
"I said," Taehyung speaks slightly louder this time. "You don't have to be here. . .You can go back."
Jungkook wasn't good with handling emotions, that must be obvious by now. He was never shown emotions growing up, was never expected to show emotions growing up, and now he didn't know what to do with them now that he was a grown up.
Taehyung understood that fact a little too soon in their relationship. Sometimes Jungkook would be confused towards emotions he wasn't used to. It included showing him concern, empathy, and the toughest route down the road; love.
And that confusion would then turn into frustration, one which always led to anger.
And Taehyung's bad habit was his consistent will to try and fix after the mess someone else created.
So eventually, he now foresaw Jungkook taking this suggestion of his in a negative way. Maybe even barsh at Taehyung for being so selfish to tell Jungkook (his only support at the place) to go home while he laid on the hospital bed with wires in his hands and bandages on his abdomen.
"Just. . . Just let me be. Please."
Hence, Taehyung was caught quite very off guard.
"I'll go in a while." Spoke Jungkook, staring down at their joined hands. "Just give me a few minutes."
"Go when you want." So Taehyung doesn't push him away immediately. "You can stay." He nods, slowly embracing the weary effect that the medicines kick in as he feels his eyelids get heavy.
When someone you love goes away, it takes away a part of you. Jungkook always found that line childish. He was a practical man after all, everyone dies at the end was a fact he accepted long ago.
When his mother passed away, it was definitely something that made him feel upset. Maybe because she was the last parent that he could've relied on after his father's passing, or maybe because she was always the parent he wasn't ever able to be close with. He always felt she deserved a better son. And before he could prove himself to her, she was taken away.
It was a rough moment, but he knew he had the mindset to handle it. It definitely took a change of personality in him, but it wasn't something that he couldn't recover from.
But he just can't understand, what was always so different about Taehyung? How did his accident affect him so much more drastically? Why were things happening in his life so much more important? Was it because it happened right after his mother's funeral?
Yet, Why? Why does Kim Taehyung always affect Jungkook so so damn much?
