As Prince Oliver set the empty cup aside, he surrendered to the pillows, the warmth of the elixir spreading through his chest like a gentle solace. The room was shrouded in a heavy stillness, punctuated only by the soft cadence of Dr. Owen's and Alexander's anxious breathing. He closed his eyes, allowing the soothing effects of the medicine to envelop him, before opening them again to reveal a profound sense of relief.

His gaze wandered to the window, where the tender blooms of spring unfolded in the private garden his father had built specially for him. The garden, a testament to his father's love and devotion, was filled with the most beautiful, rare, and fragrant flowers from across the kingdom. Lilacs and roses burst forth in vibrant hues, their sweet fragrance filling his room with the promise of new life. Yet, despite the beauty of this sanctuary, he felt a deep sense of longing.

"Spring's awakening brings both joy and sorrow to my heart," he whispered, his words barely audible. As he spoke, his hand instinctively rose to his chest, as if to calm the ache within. His eyes, shining with a soft, ethereal light, seemed to hold a world of sorrow. "From this window, I've watched the seasons come and go, the flowers bloom and wither, and the world outside these walls continue to spin without me." He paused, his gaze drifting off, lost in the haze of his own longing, his eyes unfocusing as if staring into a distant memory.

In the silence, the gentle rustle of leaves and the sweet fragrance of the flowers seemed to whisper secrets of a world beyond his confinement.

His voice took on a wistful tone, a gentle breeze on a summer's day, carrying the whispers of his heart. "I long to experience the world beyond these walls: the vibrant marketplaces, the laughter of children at play, and the quiet moments of solitude in a forest. To wander through a forest, unguided and unencumbered, to discover hidden streams and secret glades...these are the things that make life worth living." His words trailed off, leaving only the echoes of his sorrow.

The room seemed to vibrate with the weight of his sorrow, the air thickening with the unspoken emotions that hung between them. Dr. Owen and Alexander watched him with growing concern, their faces etched with empathy. His blue eyes, like two pools of turbulent water, revealed the depths of his frustration, the anguish of a life unlived.

"For twenty-two years, I've been trapped within these palace walls, my heart beating to the rhythm of medication and monotony," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I've only ever craved a taste of freedom, a fleeting glimpse of the world beyond this gilded cage. But it's not just the freedom I long for, it's the chance to experience life in all its beauty and ugliness, to feel the full range of human emotions, and to know that I'm more than just a frail prince, I'm a person, even if just for a moment." His words trailed off, leaving only the echoes of his sorrow. "If this mishap hadn't happened..."

The fragile silence was shattered by the abrupt swing of the door, as Prince Liam, Oliver's younger brother, pushed it open with a sense of urgency. He had been about to knock, his hand raised to the wooden panel, when his sharp ears caught the word "mishap" drifting from within. His expression changed from calm to concerned in an instant, and he pushed open the door without hesitation, his eyes scanning the room with a mix of alarm and worry.

As the only prince and the only family member allowed to enter Oliver's room without prior consent, Liam's sudden arrival was unannounced, and the guards outside made no effort to stop him. His tall frame filled the doorway, and his usual warmth was replaced by a deep concern as he surveyed the scene-Oliver looking injured and Dr. Owen seated with a worried expression.

In his hands, Liam carried a finely crafted wooden box, adorned with intricate carvings and secured with a delicate latch. Inside was an expensive set of carving tools, a gift he hoped would bring Oliver some joy, knowing how much his elder brother loved creating small figurines. Liam had planned this visit as a surprise, but witnessing Oliver's condition turned the moment into an unexpected revelation.
