"We're going..." I nodded. "To your mother's?" my nodding and smiling stopped and instead, I shook my head quickly with a frown. Jake's frown seemed to disappear and his normal look of happiness played on his lips mixed with relief. Jake hated staying with Mum, he'd only done it a handful of times when we were first together. Mum was never happy about me having a boy round, but I never let it bother me and so Jake was nearly always round to stay. Turns out Mum always knew I was sneaking him around the house.
"Do you remember when I tried to sneak you in that one time and Mum just sat on my bed and said nothing? She just sat there with her arms folded with that smile on her lips" I giggled as I remembered the first time Mum had caught us.
Jake chuckled at the memory, the smile Mum had wasn't an angry smile, it was just a smile knowing full well what was going through my mind at the time, and then proceeded to tell me she always knew, thought it was a way for me to get back at Sam and left the room with me and Jake inside on our own.
"Get dressed then, we need to start packing" I hopped up and walked over to my make-shift wardrobe which was really just a sectioned off part of Jake's, with a few of my dresses hung up and nestled at the bottom I had a little box that had a few T shirts and pairs of jeans and shorts folded neatly on top of each other. It was cute, and because there was only three or four things there at a time, Jake never had a problem with it. For a man, Jake had an awful lot of clothes.
I slipped on my knee-length black bodycon dress before going over to the mirror and brushing my hair and flicking on the straighteners. My hair needed washing, but if we were going to get to this Bed and Breakfast on time, we needed to leave as soon as possible. Jake came up behind me and in the mirror I ogled him as he got dressed. I didn't need to watch him in the mirror, but it came with a certain thrill that I didn't get with him knowing.
Once my hair was poker straight and cascading down my back, and my make up minimal yet somehow still managing to make my face look more awake than it did before, I reached under Jake's bed and retrieved my suitcase that hadn't even had time to collect dust as I was using it pretty much every time I came to Jake's, and now I was living there 24/7 I didn't have a reason to get it out so much, and so it could join Jake's in the hobby of collecting dust.
I walked back over to the wardrobe and collected everything that was hanging up, and everything that was folded in the box underneath it. I promised myself I would drop into Mum's to collect the rest of my clothes, and everything else I needed to move in with Jake properly, so we could finally put it on paper. I put everything into my little suitcase and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and put some toiletries into a wash bag.
At last everything was packed, and with my cut-out ankle boots securely on my feet and Jake waiting behind me with both suitcases, I opened the front door and made my way to my car, helping Jake put everything in, and then finally, ourselves.
The journey was smooth, probably the smoothest journey I've ever made. And it was enjoyable, apart from the fact that I'd made it only a couple of days ago. The journey that I pretty much made at least twice a week on my own suddenly seemed new and fun with Jake sitting in the passenger's seat.
"You make this journey every single time you come to stay at mine? It's a relief you moved in then really isn't it" Jake chuckled and I playfully slapped his thigh. He was right though, this journey had started to take it's toll on me, and to hell if I was going to go a few days more than needed without Jake. I would have driven this road a thousand times just to have his company instead of my mother's.
We finally got to the Bed and Breakfast near the sanctuary. It was a cute little cottage with white walls and a thatched roof. It didn't look big enough to be classed as a bed and breakfast, by the looks of things it only had one floor. I searched for a sign that told me that I was definitely at the right place but before I had caught sight of one, a little old lady emerged from the cottage with a border collie barking excitedly running up to Jake and I.
