"Blake, this is the third time I've beat your ass in this game." I yelled, dropping the remote control on the carpeted floor. "Just admit that I'm better than you." I roll my eyes and give him a look.
He dropped his controller on the floor also. "Aria, you are not better than me at this." He looked me in the eyes. "You're just lucky today." He shrugged. "Very lucky." He added.
"That explains why I won three times," I shrugged, "In a row." My lips formed into a smirk and I saw his face turn a little red. "Come on..." I move closer to him on the couch. "Admit it."
I could tell he got flustered and instead of telling me I'm better than him, he tackled me onto the floor and landed right above me. The floor of my apartment made a thud sound. Blake and I have been best friends since high school. We lived in the same neighborhood when we were younger but he was homeschooled. We saw each other around and our older brothers used to always play basketball in the park. He would always join in and I would watch. Sometimes I'd play with them, but we only really began to talk in sophomore year of high school. We had a few classes together so we were with each other the majority of the day. Soon enough we started to walk each other to class, eat lunch together, and we were always there for each other. I always went to his games and always supported him. He always supported me with my interests. Now we're both in college. I've been with him every step of the way with getting recruited and now he's living his dream.
"Get off! You're so damn heavy." I tried to laugh, but his weight on my hips was so much. "Seriously!" I tried to push him off of me, but he didn't move at all.
"You really think you can get me off of you? You're 5'1 Aria." He laughed and pinned my arms down.
"Hey, don't make fun of my height." I fake pouted. "At least I'm not abnormally large like you." I said with an attitude.
"Feisty." He held both of my arms above my head with one of his hands and started tickling me with the other.
"Blake." I warned. "Don't." I frowned. But before I knew it, his hands were all over me and I was kicking up, trying to free myself from his grip. "Blake!" I yelled, and he stopped. "Thank you!" I said, annoyed. "You're so annoying." I say as he gets off of me. I go and sit down on the couch again.
"You're kind of cute when you're mad." He coughed immediately after and looked down.
"W-what?" I asked. Did he just call me cute? He just called me cute. I looked at his chocolate brown eyes and studied them. I looked at his face and saw his perfectly defined jaw line. Was it carved by the gods or something? This man was blessed with a very nice gene pool. He had a small smile on his face and then his lips started to move.
"Aria?" He asked. "Did you hear me?"
"Um, no. Sorry." I cleared my throat. "What did you say?"
"Do you want to go to the pier or something later? I'm bored." He shrugged. "I don't feel like playing this game anymore."
"Yeah, that sounds nice." I smile.
"Alright." I reply.
"I have some errands to run, so I should go. I'll pick you up at 5:30?" He suggest while running a hand through his hair.
"Sounds good." I say and get up to hug him. His arms wrap around me and hold me tightly. He gives the best bear hugs. I only come up to about his pecks but he still gives the best hugs. "See you later, loser." I say as he walks down to his car.
He looks back and shakes his head with a smile. "See you later."
By the time he came and picked me up, I was dressed in some skinny jeans, a grey fitted t-shirt and some black sandals. My dark hair was curly and fell down my back naturally. I grabbed my phone and wristlet before following him out the door.
"You look good." He said.
"Thanks. So do you." I say before getting into the car. We drove to the pier and walked around for a little while. We ate some food and then decided to go down to the beach. It was dark out but not pitch black yet. I slipped my shoes off before stepping onto the sand. Blake just laughed at me.
"What?" I asked. "I don't want the sand to mess them up."
"Alright, weirdo." He said. We kept walking until we found a nice stop to sit down in. As soon as we settled down he slid his white converse off.
"Hmm, did you get some sand in them?" I ask sarcastically, and nudge him with my shoulder.
"Shut up." He blurted out and nudged me back.
"I told you it was a good idea to take them off, but of course you didn't listen to me again. I'm a genius," I counted one finger, "I'm better than you at video games," I counted another finger and noticed him looking at me, "Admit it, I'm bet-" He cut me off with a deep kiss. His lips parted and we both took a small breath. I pressed my forehead against his and kissed him again before he pulled away. I was now straddling him and he held my body close to his. My arms were wrapped around his neck.
"The only thing I'll admit," He kissed my lips again. "Is that I love you, Aria." He finished.
I kissed him back. "I love you too." And that's how I fell in love with my best friend.
