A police car cut them off.
"Eddie," Buck said. "No. No matter how we're dealing with this right now, out of concern for Chris. But a murder of a cop is not in order right now."

Eddie cursed and was about to yell at Buck when Athena left the police car in front of them.
Shit, even he couldn't do this because Bobby and Athena were practically family. Neither Buck, Chris, nor he would ever forgive himself. Eddie pounded the steering wheel with his fist. The horn made his frustration, the fear for his son, and anger heard. Buck reached over, carefully turned off the engine, pulled the key out of the lock, and hugged Eddie.

Buck was a little afraid his husband would lash out or run away. In the direction where they thought Christopher was. He knew they would both do anything and was all the more surprised when Eddie slumped under his hands, crying and screaming.
Athena approached the car, but Buck's gaze made her stop. She had never seen such a look on his face before. He was exhausted and yet full of authority and energy. She stopped instinctively, not out of fear, but because that look said more than anyone could put into words.

After a while, she went to the car, took the keys from Buck, and arrested them.
"It's for your protection. How were you going to deal with this? Just walk into a camp full of criminals with guns and expect the two of you to come out unharmed with Christopher? One of you would most likely die! How should I explain this to my husband, your friends, and family? Hm?" came the lecture. But it was clear that she and both of the men were thinking about Christopher. How else would it be possible?

Due to a newspaper article that mentioned both as examples of LGTB+ members in the fire department - Chris, Bucks, and Eddie's son were kidnapped.
One of the conditions forced them to resign immediately out of concern for their son. However, even after complying, all they received were dehumanizing demands that went as far as calling for suicide and deportation to their home country.

But no data or intention to release their son. Both used every contact in their lives and every ounce of energy to get information about the kidnappers. They were so close to finally seeing their son again after days. But Athena knew them too well and trailed them.

While Eddie argued and tried to break free, Buck suppressed this reaction in him to have a conversation with Athena.

After a while, a few blows and bruises later, Eddie also came down a bit. But that didn't stop him from scowling at Athena, who's used to such looks.
"Listen to me. I'll make you a suggestion. You sit in the police car and behave yourselves. Our units will storm the area. As soon it's safe, you can take Christopher in your arms. Thanks to you, we have enough evidence for the necessary warrants. Deal?" came a solution from her. A few officers made noises that may be an objection. But the gaze of the three silenced any resistance.

After 3 hours, which felt like an eternity, they were finally allowed to leave the police car.
When they both saw Chris, they had to fight back their tears. Their son was bruised, battered, and cut.

If it hadn't been for the SWAT team stepping in just in time, those criminals with their disgusting grins would have never reached the van. Athena had hoped that Buck would hold Eddie back a bit. But he didn't even consider it. If Chris hadn't been loaded into the ambulance right then, he would have gladly thrown a few punches.

However, due to his behavior, Eddie was held in custody overnight.
As soon as Chris was treated and put to sleep, Buck made every necessary arrangement.
If it hadn't been for Athena's understanding side, there would have been another ruckus. Fortunately, she kept Eddie updated on the case and Chris's condition in the hospital based on information provided by Buck.

In the morning in front of the station was Buck. He brought new clothes, a coffee, a bagel, and a smile.
"Hey, statistically I should be in there.", he joked. Eddie missed him and Chris. He relaxed. "Don't worry Tía Pepa is with Chris so I could get you and bring you to him. Luckily it looks worse than the physical injuries are." Eddie let go of a big breath.
