7. The pub

"uh..." is all I can get out of me.
I'm going to kill Ava after this. out of the corner of my eye I see Beth trying to hold back her laughter, she knows I don't know what to say. Fuck, I'll just play it cool. "Well, I told Ava how it went today so I said I did tests on you but also Beth, so yes, I was talking about you". I say while trying not to make eye contact with Leah. I don't know what it is, but her eyes do something to me. Ava had a good laugh, while Beth had an unpleasant look on her face.
"So you can talk about miss blue eyes, but not your new bestie, I feel hurt" says Beth, while she lays her  hand on her heart as if she were hurt. I just roll my eyes how she was as a child.
"um, best friend. does fifteen years of friendship mean anything to you, remember who knows your deepest secrets" Ava says as she looks at me with a serious face. "you know that I love you with all my heart, and don't you dare say a word about my secrets, because you, I will call your mother and tell her what you are doing on the weekends" I say to Ava and then she becomes silent, she doesn't want her mom to know that she's fucking a new guy every weekend.
"I want to know all the secrets you have, mostly Emma's." Beth says as she looks at me with a smug smile. I panic a bit easily, I know that Ava has no filters, and can say anything about me if she was drunk enough. I turn to Ava who is about to say something but I stop her by putting my hand over her mouth. "no, you don't say a word." I say sternly to Ava and she just puts her hands up in defense. "But I want to know" Beth says while she has a sad expression on her face. "Believe me, you don't want to, anyway what are you doing here?" I say to change the subject.
"we're just here with some of the team enjoying a weekend without games," says Beth, while Vivianne and Leah just nod.
"Don't drink too much, you will do a beep test on Monday" I say, then I realize what exactly I have said, Bella told me not to tell any of the players. "uh, you didn't hear it is." I say, trying to save it, but it's too late, all three look uncomfortable, "you're kidding, please tell me you're kidding," Beth says, and I just shake my head. "Why should we do it, we did it like last week", says Vivianne while I just shrug my shoulders. "can't you do something so we don't have to" Beth says as the other two nod in agreement. "Sorry, I can't do anything, I can only make sure none of you work too hard" I say while the three sigh. "Well, then we have to make the most of the time," says Leah, while looking at me. I do everything in my power not to look at her, but I feel that she is looking at me. "You should go back and be with your friends instead of being with me," I say to break the silence."Or you and your friend can come with us and meet more of the team," Beth says as Vivianne nods in agreement. "uh, I don't know, I don't want to intrude, and I don't think Ava..." I say to make it sound like I want to be friendly, but really, I don't want to sit at a table with Leah and try not to look at her too much. but I don't have time to speak clearly because even Ava rudely cuts me off. "Stop blaming it on me, I'm happy to hang out with your friends, who cares, maybe there's someone nice for me, I haven't had sex in a whole week" Ava says while I just put my head in my hands and shake my head . Leah and Vivianne laugh at what Ava just said, while Beth says "I like her, come on I need a drink" Beth says as she takes me by the arm, I look back at Ava who is walking behind me and she just smiles.

Once at the table I was instructed by Beth, those at the table were Kate, Caitlin, Lotte, Laura, Kyra and Alessia. They were all very kind and I started talking to Kate,Caitlin and Beth, mostly about football and why I wanted to work at Arsenal. While Kate starts to complain that she gets too many yellow cards and I start looking around to see where Ava is, while I look around I find her, between two guys, making out with them. It was too much tongue for me, so I turned back to Beth and the girls with a disgusted expression on my face. "What's wrong?" Beth asks when she sees my facial expression, I just point at Ava who gets her face eaten by the two guys.

"That's a lot of tongue," Beth says after I point at Ava.
"That's why I looked away" I say as Kate and Caitlin laugh, "looks like it was too much tongue for her, she's coming here right now" Kate says, and I turn to see Ava wobbly walking towards me with smeared lipstick and I'm a little afraid what she'll say, because she usually doesn't have any filters but when she's drunk, she's like an open book and doesn't think before she speaks. Once she gets to me, she trips and almost falls over me, but I manage to catch her "Ava, take it easy" I say as I help her stand up. "sor..sorry, I just wanted to say that I'm going to go home but th..those two guys over there" she says as she points to the two guys she's been making out with. "Are you sure, you've had a lot to drink and it's late '' I say because I know Ava doesn't make the best decisions when she's drunk, and two guys it's been a long time since that happened to her. " I..I haven't been dri..drinking much, and two guys what more can I ask for. I know y..you don't like guys anymore since the blonde, but I like guys, and I want to have fun tonight. I can even fix so you can see where I am" Ava says before putting her hand over her mouth as she realizes what she said and I just stare at her. "oops, I..I should not say anything about blonde, should I" Ava says to save the situation but I just put my head in my hands "no, Ava you wouldn't, nor that I don't like guys, since I haven't figured it out myself" I tell her now looking straight at her, "sorry" Ava says with a small smile on her lips before taking out her cell phone and making some noises on it "but I've fixed it so you can look where I am now, so I'll go and hopefully have a good night with lots of sex" she says before she leans over and gives me a kiss on the cheek saying "Bye" and I mutter a goodbye to her before looking her run back to the two guys and disappear. I take a deep breath and turn to Beth and the girls, and am greeted by a smug smile on Beth's face, "soo, the blonde?" Beth says with a knowing look. "Don't say a word" I say to her but a finger pointing at Beth. Beth puts her hands up in defense, trying to hold back her laughter.
"Who's the blonde?" Kate asks, I just stare at her, what the hell am I supposed to say.
"oh, the blonde is.." Beth is about to say before I put a hand over her mouth. "The blonde is nobody, and you can't talk about something son doesn't exist" I say sternly to Beth.
"Oh come on tonight just got interesting and we can't even talk about it" Kate says as she leans back with an unhappy look on her face.
"I can buy a shot each" I say to pick up the mood. And as soon as those words leave my mouth, Kate stands up and shouts to all her teammates "Emma's buying shots!" and all cheers. I actually meant to buy shots for Beth, Kate and Caitlin who I was sitting in the corner with, but apparently Kate had other plans.
I take Beth's hand and tell the girls we're going to order. Once at the bar, I asked the bartender for ten shots. and then I turn to Beth. "what are you doing?" I say to her and she just has a smug smile on Beth's face and says "I don't know what you're talking about", when she really knows what I'm talking about.
"You know what it's about" I said with a knowing look,
"Yeah okay,but I didn't know it was such a secret and it was a hotter topic of conversation than we had all night" Beth says.
"I hardly know myself if I like Leah or not, and I kind of listed today that I might like girls," I say honestly to Beth so she might understand my situation a little more.
"I know how you feel about not knowing if you like girls or not, but I also know how you look at Leah as soon as she's near and how you try not to make eye contact with her because you know that once you do you almost can't look away," Beth tells me, and she's absolutely right. That's exactly how I feel I put my head in my hands and mutter "You're right"
"Of course I'm right, you almost start drooling when you look at her," says Beth. "I won't, now. take the shots and let's never talk about Leah in this bar" I say before we get to the table. "yay, the shots are here" Kate says and everyone starts taking a shot, I don't usually take shots they do something to me, it's like I have no shame in my body, but a shot shouldn't hurt, right? "for Emma" Kate says and with that everyone takes the shot. Beth and I sat down in the same seat we were in and talked more with Kate and Caitlin.
