"𝐈'𝐌 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐇𝐄'𝐒 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄," her headmaster assured her. She was here, on time, bright and early. Aurelia was eager to show this new student around, to hopefully help him get acclimated, and he couldn't even be bothered to show up on time. She hated tardiness. It was a waste of her time, and she had about a million other things she could be doing.
"It's alright," she assured him, trying her best to not sound annoyed. She was missing first period for this.
"Oh, here he is," Headmaster Royce stated, guiding her attention to the boy who'd entered the office, looking like he gave no fucks at all. His shirt wasn't completely buttoned, and his tie was hung loosely around his neck, like he'd just rolled out of bed and put no effort into his appearance whatsoever. "Aurelia, I'd like you to meet Mr. Nicolas Donnelly. Mr. Donnelly, this is Aurelia Clairmont-Reid, one of our brightest here."
Upon further investigation of this boy (for no other reason but curiosity), recognition struck her like a bolt of lighting. She never forgot a face.
It was him.
The same boy who'd crashed into her in front of the ice cream parlor with Xander without a care in the world, was now standing in front of her. He looked unamused, like he had no interest in being here, yet he still offered his hand out for her to shake, out of mere politeness.
"Nice to meet you," she replied smoothly, not bothering to shake his hand, opting to clutch her books tighter. She could tell that doing anything for this boy would be a waste of time. "Welcome to Crestwood Academy," she said politely.
"Glad to be here," he replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The headmaster didn't seem to pick up on it, or he merely didn't care as he handed him his class schedule. "Here's a list of all your classes. Aurelia here would be happy to show you around, and to help you get acquainted here."
"I'm sure she would," he stated, a fake smile plastered on his face. Aurelia narrowed her eyes. She didn't like this boy one bit. The arrogance coming off of him was astounding. And besides, who the hell starts at a new school at the beginning of their senior year? Someone who had problems at his old school, that's who.
"Well, off you two go then. There's plenty to see," Headmaster Royce dismissed them, leaving them to their own devices. The second the headmaster was gone, Nicolas's smile dropped, and he looked unamused as he glanced toward her. "Look, do we have to do this whole thing?" He asked her, raising an eyebrow.
"What whole thing?" She questioned, rolling her eyes.
"You know, the thing where you pretend to be nice and show me around or whatever?"
"Do you want to do it?" She asked, clutching her books closer to her chest.
"Not really," he replied bluntly, scratching the side of his jawline subconsciously. At this point, profiling people was like a second nature for Aurelia, but there was something about this boy that she couldn't quite place. It was like he'd become an expert at not showing emotion on his face over the years, because she looked at him and couldn't see a damn thing. It was a first for her.
"Then yes, we have to do this whole thing," she told him, only to annoy him more. She was tasked with doing this, and she was determined to follow through, even if she wanted to kill him by the time the hour was done. "Now let's go. We have a lot of ground to cover." She opened the door to the main office and gestured him outside, walking in front of him as she guided him down the hallway.
"So, Amelia-" He started.
"Aurelia," she corrected, trying not to sound annoyed by his cocky tone of voice.
