In the heart of the Underworld, where shadows danced and eerie whispers filled the air, Percy Jackson and Nico di Angelo stood before Hades, the brooding ruler of the realm of the dead. The Lord of the Underworld's expression was grave as he recounted the unsettling sightings of a strange and mysterious creature lurking in the depths of his domain.

"Perseus, Nico," Hades intoned, his voice echoing through the cavernous chamber. "I have observed a creature unlike any I've seen before in the Underworld. It appears to be a unknown monster, and it disturbs the balance of my realm. I task you with finding this anomaly and discovering its origins."

Percy exchanged a confused glance with Nico. "We won't let you down, Uncle H," Percy promised solemnly.

The two demigods ventured forth into the dark recesses of the Underworld's mountains, guided by the dim light given by the Underworld. The air grew colder as they delved deeper, the atmosphere pressing in on them as a strange energy came to them.

Their journey led them to a cavern shrouded in darkness, its entrance concealed by twisted roots and jagged stone. With cautious steps, they entered the abyss, the echoes of their footfalls call they could hear other then there voices.

As they traversed the winding tunnels, their senses were assaulted by the stench of decay and the oppressive silence of the grave. It was then that they stumbled upon a grisly sight - the remains of a monstrous creature, its flesh withered and mottled, its lifeblood drained and absent.

Nico furrowed his brow in confusion as he examined the desiccated corpse. "This is...a hell hound, or what is left of one."

Percy nodded in agreement, his mind racing with questions and uncertainty. "What in the underworld drains blood," he mused aloud.

With the mysterious creature eluding their grasp, Percy and Nico made their way back to the palace of Hades, their thoughts filled with thoughts of what monster could do such a thing. Percy proposed seeking counsel from Athena, the goddess of wisdom, while Nico resolved to interrogate the Furies, and report the current finding to his father.

Their paths diverged as they set out on their respective quests for answers, each determined to unravel the mystery that threatened to disrupt the delicate balance of the Underworld.

Percy made his way to his mother-in-law's temple, gently rapping on the door. Athena welcomed him inside, where he sought her wisdom. His quest was to uncover knowledge about a blood-sucking monster unlike any other. Though Athena proposed the idea of a vampire, Percy dismissed it, noting peculiarities in the wounds left behind by the creature.

Together, they delved into Athena's vast collection of books, scouring pages for clues. In the midst of their search, Percy found himself unintentionally drawing closer to Athena, seeking solace as he would with his wife, Annabeth. Rather than rebuffing his closeness, Athena allowed him to draw nearer.

Despite hours of diligent research, their efforts yielded no answers. Determined to seek further insight, Percy decided to consult with Nico's finding. With a farewell to Athena, he departed the temple.

Left alone, Athena grappled with conflicting emotions. She questioned her actions, torn between her identity as a maiden goddess and her role as Percy's mother-in-law. Despite her internal struggle, she couldn't deny the desire for his lingering embrace.

Returning to the underworld, Percy sought out Nico to share his findings. He informed Nico that Athena's records held no mention of a creature matching the unique bite marks left by the unknown monster. Nico, in turn, revealed that even the furies, with their extensive knowledge of underworld creatures, had no information on such beings. Furthermore, Nico added that his father, Hades, possessed no records of vampires or any similar blood-sucking entities within his realm.

Percy and Nico intensified their search for clues regarding the mysterious monster until their attention was drawn to a shadowy figure atop a nearby hill. While Nico only perceived the shadow of the peculiar creature, Percy's perception extended beyond, catching sight of a human shadow as well. However, realizing Nico's inability to see the figure due to prolonged exposure to the underworld's illusions, Percy dismissed it as a trick on his mind.

Ascending the hill, they confronted a hellhound-like beast with a peculiar facial structure featuring a round mouth adorned with three prominent teeth designed for blood-sucking. Dispatching the monster swiftly with a single decisive blow, Percy examined the creature and deduced it to be a mutated hellhound, likely the offspring of a union with a vampire—a peculiar but not unheard-of occurrence. Its lack of inherent power suggested it had relied on stealth to prey upon other monsters.

With the creature defeated, Percy instructed Nico to inform his father of their discovery while he himself would report to Athena for inclusion in her records of monsters. As Nico bid farewell and vanished into the shadows, Percy set off to relay the news to Athena.

Returning alone to Athena's temple, Percy conveyed the discovery that the elusive monster they had sought was, in fact, the offspring of a peculiar union between a hellhound and a vampire, resulting in a mutation. Athena acknowledged his report, swiftly adding it to her extensive records. As Percy prepared to depart Athena's temple after delivering the news, Athena felt a fleeting urge to invite him to dinner, hoping for another accidental moment of closeness. However, she restrained herself and merely bid him farewell as he left.

Upon leaving Olympus and heading back to his cabin for a well-deserved respite with his wife, Percy received an Iris message from Hades, expressing gratitude for his assistance. Percy replied, assuring his uncle that he was willing to aid with any future quests, as he found himself somewhat bored lately. Hades accepted the offer, promising to reach out if another quest arose.
