Chapter 8: New alliances

Nania gave the room they had turned into a war room to Valerie and Katerina. So they moved all of the war room stuff into her room upstairs. Valerie also spoke with Atreus and Ruta about planning shifts for the three of them to share to make sure everyone in this wing of the castle was safe. Ruta had explained to her that they fear the King will attempt to sneak in again so more people on watch would help.
Nania still continued her training with Atreus every day, She also went with Mia and Ruta out in the town. She met some of the towns people who believed in her. She felt appreciated by many people. She also did wear that crown while she went out into town.
Atreus spent his off time trying to figure out who sent those three men to kidnap Nania before. Valerie requested to help after hearing about what happened since she took quickly to seeing Nania as her future Queen. Valerie and Katerina were doing the most they could to help out wherever they were needed.

One month later, Nania was doing some archery training out in the garden. Atreus was overseeing the training and leaned up against a post behind Nania with his arms crossed. He kept his wings out more often as it seemed to have brought a smile to Nania's face.
Valerie comes out in a new set of armor that Mia was nice enough to get her. It matched Ruta and Atreus' armor as they decided that they would be Nania's Knights. She walked over to Atreus and stood beside him just watching Nania as she shot off arrow after arrow.
"She's really good at that. How long has she been training?" Valerie asks as she folds her arms and leans up against the other post.
"About 7 Months now. She's taken a liking to the Bow more than a sword or dagger." Atreus sounded so proud of her as he spoke so gently. The smile on his face also easily told everyone he was so proud of her.
Beads of sweat gently ran down Nania's face as she let loose another arrow that hit the center of her target. Conveniently on the Target she placed a portrait of the King that she found gift wrapped at the front door of the Guest wing.
Valerie chuckled a little as she noticed the arrows were either in his crotch of his face. She leaned a little towards Atreus to whisper to him so only he could hear.
"Do you think we should find somewhere temporarily away from the King so he doesn't try anything again? I have a friend just outside of the walls who owns a Tavern big enough to fit a whole Army." She raises her brows at the end and keeps her eyes on Nania.
"That would be up to Lady Nania, Maybe you can take her there later today and have her talk to this friend. I have a little bit more research on those attempted kidnappers." Atreus pushes off the post and walks over to Nania lightly placing his hand on her shoulder. She looks up at him and smiles as she wipes some of the sweat off her brow.
Something lit up in Valeries eyes as she saw the genuine smile upon Nania's face and it caused her to smile too. Valerie pushed off the post and walked to Nania and Atreus just as he was explaining what Valerie just told him.
"Oh? You know someone who owns a large Tavern? I could use a place with good drinks and not just wine." Nania fake gags and laughs as she nods her head towards the door to indicate that they go inside.
Atreus leans into Nania's ear and whispers something and then as he pulls away she nods and he turns around to take off into the sky. Nania and Valerie enter the main room and see Katerina and Mia sitting on the couches going over clothing designs. Katerina requested a special uniform as she was going to be the head Doctor for the group.
"Hey, we are going to that tavern we use to stay at. You want to come with?" Valerie asked Katerina as they entered. Katerina shook her head no and then went back to planning with Mia.
When Ruta entered the room from her and Mia's bedroom and also declined and said she will stay to take care of Mia and Katerina while everyone else was out.

Nania came down the stairs in a slim fit gown of green and gold. It had a tight fitting bodice that showed off her large chest size and her small waist. It had a black wolf fur like cowl around the shoulders that connected to a Green collar like necklace. The skit looked like she had a large hoop skirt under but it was just the shape of her hips that made it pop out so much. As she walked down, she wore the crown and her new silver wolf head necklace that Atreus got her.
Nania smiled as she approached Valerie who held out a hand to help lead her down the rest of the stairs. The click of Nania's heels as they went from carpet to marble floors was loud int he silent room.
Nania had never looked so regal before, she had never felt so regal either. She gave Valerie a slight curtsy as she took her hand. 
"Shall we my Lady?" Valerie smiled as she bowed slightly wrapping her fingers lightly around Nania's hand. The mix of the Red skin over Pale peach seemed to fit well. Some ideas started flowing into Valerie's mind, but she kept those down as she still barely knew Nania.
The two of them leave the castle with no issues with the Castle guard. Nania walked with her head held high as Valerie walked a couple steps behind her keeping her eye on everyone around them. Her wings were tucked in behind her but twitched lightly. Mia specially got her armor made to work with her wings well.
Some people in town stopped Nania a bit to talk to her and even some of the shop owners offered Nania some free items. Nania gently declined as she didn't feel like she deserved things for free. She personally preferred to get things after paying for it, especially after stealing things for most of her life before the past few years.
The two of them reached the large gates that lead to the outside of the Kingdom. The guards instantly notice Nania and without asking her why she needed to leave they instantly open up the gates. Nania nods in thanks to the guards as they exit the walls.
Valerie started walking faster so that she was the one to open the door for Nania. Inside this large building there was a man standing on the stage with a lute playing a light melody. A few patrons sit at the tables drinking and eating and there was a woman standing behind the bar cleaning a glass.
As soon as the bartenders eyes meet Valerie's a big smile forms across her face.
"Ah! Back again Valerie!" She placed the glass down and opened her arms wide. She moves her head to the side to see Nania standing behind Valerie looking amazed at the sight of the Tavern.
"Oh! Who is your friend?" The Bartender said as she looked Nania up and down and instantly she recognized who was in her bar. She jumps over the bar and then bows real quick.
"Oh! My Lady, I didn't know we were getting a visit from our future Queen!" She sounded quite flustered as she spoke. Nania smiled as she stepped further into the tavern. Valerie grabbed a chair from a nearby table and pulled it towards Nania inviting her to sit.
"We are safe to discuss our plans in here My lady. Evelyn here only allows people who are against the King enter this Tavern." Valerie stood behind the chair Nania sat in as she gestured towards the bartender she called Evelyn. Nania extends her hand towards Evelyn with a big smile. Evelyn takes her hand and shakes it as she smiles too.
"Well I guess we don't really need to technically introduce ourselves since you seem to already know who I am and Valerie basically told me who you are!" Nania chuckled as she spoke and then after the hand shake she folded her hands in her lap. Valerie walks off a bit to the bar and grabs a could pints of a light brown liquid and brings it over to Nania and Evelyn.
"Oh fuck yes! I haven't had a real drink in years! I am seriously sick of wine!" Nania takes the tankard and starts to chug the whole thing.
Valerie looks at Nania with amazement as the liquid in the tankard disappears quickly. Evelyn smiled and then she sat forward on her chair.
"So Valerie mentioned the information she received from one of your people about what is going on and your plans. I can get you an army bigger than the one the King has. I actually think I can convince some of his current army members to switch sides!" Evelyn's voice got low in a fully serious tone. "We can also help with your campaign and make the people of the Kingdom believe you would be a better leader than he is right now. I know some people who saw what happened at the Queens birthday event don't need to easily be swayed."
Nania swallowed hard, she did not feel ready at all about this. She didn't expect that her situation would have gotten so serious. How everyone else believed in her more than she believed in herself.
"Evelyn, do you think we could stay here? I think living inside the castle while planning this will be a problem in the end. Especially since the King still attempts to sneak into the wing he has us in and tries to crawl into my bed." Nania looked away slightly and then sighs deeply.
"Of course my lady! I can clean out as many rooms as you need upstairs right now if you and your people want to go and pack up your things!" Evelyn looks to a man who came out from the kitchen and nods to him and he instantly runs upstairs. "How many rooms do you need?"
"Six rooms" Valerie cut in.
"Um... Four actually. Ruta and Mia are sharing a room and... Atreus is sharing a room with me." Nania blushed a bit when she said that last bit out loud.
"Oh!? Then Five, the fifth room will be the war room then!" Valerie said and smiled.
"I will just have the entire upstairs cleaned, for anyone else who comes to help out!" Evelyn says as she smiles.
"Do you also have space for a Wolf the size of a large horse?" Nania asked with a slight smile and Evelyn looked at her with a confused look but nodded slightly. She then shakes Nania's hand and they all say their goodbyes and Nania and Valerie walk out of the Tavern together.

While on their way back to the castle, Valerie kept stealing looks over to Nania and randomly biting her lip at the awkward silence between the two of them. Valerie clears her throat to break the silence and Nania slightly looks up at her.
"So... are you and Atreus...?" Valerie's voice trailed off a little with a slight of jealousy. Nania looks down at her hands that are folded over her stomach.
"Well... Because of my past and the things that have happened to me, its just harmless flirting right as of now. I am not sure if either of us will feel comfortable with going any further.. Or if I will be ready..." Nania did not sound comfortable with this subject and she starts to pick at the skin around her long green painted nails.
"Oh, I am sorry if this is a sore subject." Valerie looked forward, worried that she upset Nania. Nania took a large long breath and then slightly closed her eyes.
"Its not a sore subject. But I am not mad that you asked. Its kind of nice to have that off my chest though." She smiled as she looked up at Valerie and into those dark red eyes. A slight blush formed over Nania's face and then she looked forward slightly biting her lip.

After the two of them return to the castle Nania instructs Ruta and Atreus to pack up everything and they all planned to just leave without saying anything. Nania went outside to Ulf and she set up his armor and they hooked some of the bags of their things onto his armor so he could take them and no one will know that they were leaving.
Nania sent him off to the Tavern ahead of them to go drop off the bulk of their stuff. Everyone each took one bags worth of their things and each set out in pairs so it would seem like they were just going out into town.
Nania and Atreus were last to go, Nania took a deep breath and then the two of them walked through the halls of the castle towards the front door.
"Going somewhere?" A low voice is heard behind them causing them to stop in their tracks. Nania recognized the voice as the King.
Nania slowly turns around and the King is slowly walking down the stairs towards them. Atreus lightly grabs Nania's hand and squeezes it to remind her that he is there if she needs him. She takes a deep breath and calms herself down.
"Why yes, we are going to the Library. Atreus told me there is a book that he thinks Id be interested in." Nania had to lie, she couldn't let the King know the truth.
"Ugh, libraries are so boring. This is why I don't like women that read." His voice sounded so bothered. Nania could feel a chill crawl up her spine as he walked closer. "You, big guy, be a dear and leave us. I need to talk to Lady Nania alone."
Atreus stepped between Nania and the King and looked down at him. His wings had come out and he used them to shield Nania's body. Nania places her hands on Atreus' shoulder and lightly nods.
"Its ok Atreus, I will meet you outside." Nania gives him a smile and she lightly pushes him towards the front door.
After Atreus nods and leave the front door, Nania turns to the King and folds her arms.
"What do you want? I'm not becoming your mistress or a consort." Nania raises an eyebrow as she gives him a stern look.
"No, but I have heard a rumor. I have been told that you and your group have been planning something. Something against me." His voice was curious but stern.
Nania tried to not look suspicious. She raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"Why would I plan anything against you? You have been nothing but nice to me and gave me a place to live." She smiled as she intertwines her fingers behind her back.
"Alright. Well I just wanted to get that rumor delt with. You go have fun at the library. Hopefully we can have a nice dinner tonight when you guys get back." The King smiles as he slightly turns away.
Nania nods and turns away towards the door and when the King could not see her face she sighs and rolls her eyes.
As soon as she gets outside she almost screams. Atreus walks up to her and places his hand on her back.
"Everything ok?" He asked as he looked her over.
"Someone knows of our plans and has told the king. He is suspicious, He need to go now!" Nania looks up at Atreus as she starts walking forward quite fast.
