I was trapped.
Someone had been following me since I had left from the work. Sandersburg was somewhat safe, but I wasn't. For now I had locked myself in the ladies room of an old vintage bar. It was crowded outside but the man followed me in. The door was locked from the inside but my fear was giving in. I can't risk calling Rose. Soon, he started pounding on the door, my first instinct was to call Alex and that is exactly what I did, I called him. But perhaps my fate didn't love me, his phone switched off. Well...
I heard a crack and turned to the door, he was breaking in. My hand darted to my purse to grab ahold of my taser. My hands trembled as I tried to call Alex again but with no luck. Another crack followed by a thud echoed. Loud jazz music hit my ears as I turned around to see my "Stalker" standing in the way. Way to go...
I froze for a quick second before unconsciously darting my hand forward with the taser. "Don't you dare." My voice came out as a whisper as the man stepped forward towards me in a slow pace. "Stay back!" I screamed and moved back looking around for any other weapon but what can you expect in an old ladies washroom. My eyes went back to the man, he stood there for a while before throwing himself on me and grabbing my hands, pushing me back on the wall. My head hit the concrete and the taser was knocked off my hand. I was being crushed under his hold. I screamed for help but no one came to my rescue. He got ahold of my throat and pressed it hard. My body was giving up and breathing was getting difficult. Just as my vision was about to black out, a new voice was heard before the man let go of me.
My body crashed down and I coughed hard, catching my breath. Looking up I saw the stranger in black trench coat who took the man down and had him on the floor with his hands locked behind his back. He had a strong but lean build, I almost mistook him for Alex. "Thank you..." I mumbled rubbing my neck. Must have bruised there. My vision started to clear back fully as I stared at my stalker and his eyes were closed, was he knocked off unconscious by him?
"Carene Samahaulder?" He stood up from his crouched position and looked at me before lending his hand
"Yeah..." I nervously stared at him and stood up from his help. "Thank you..."
"Ryes Jade." He introduced himself and adjusted his trench coat. "From Warren Systems and Security."
"Oh..." My mind stopped working for a quick second. "Did..." I couldn't complete my sentence but he understood and nodded.
"Alex Warren's right hand, he sent me to be in charge of your safety, temporarily."
"Thank you..." I said again. He kept his word.
"Who's this man though?" He looked down and nudged the man's arm with his foot.
"I have no idea. I've never met him." I gulped and rubbed my neck again. Just then another man walked in, dressed the same in trench coat and formals. He looked at Ryes and then me, before smiling and extending his hand.
"Not a really ideal place for a first meet, Nathan Jones, Alex's friend and teammate." I returned the smile and gave him my hand as he planted a peck. Oh well, what a prince.
"I'll take her home," Ryes looked at Nathan and spoke.
"Yeah I'll catch up to you later." Nathan took his phone out after retrieving his hand and dialed a number. Ryes looked at me and motioned towards the exit. I gave a good bye bow to Nathan as he returned it before I followed the other out.
We walked out of the vintage bar when I asked, "Why did he stay back?"
"We need to find information about your stalker, check his background, find out who sent him, etcetera, etcetera." He answered maintaining the monotone. His eyes straight to the road.
