Krissy
The school day has ended. During lunch, I got in contact with my best friend Aliyah. She put me in connect immediately with the lawyer I needed to discuss the situation about legal guardianship. Maybe this was a big responsibility but I had full confidence that I could do this.
I filled my parents in on the situation and they supported me too. They always knew I was good with kids coming from such a big family. They even sent me money to get things for the girls.
I was going to fight for these girls.
After contacting numerous people, they were allowed to come home with me. Legal guardianship would be a long process but it was achievable with the right connections.
"What's Keith's complex?" Taylor asks as we walk towards my car.
"It is an after school program. First you'll have a snack with all the other kids, then you'll go off with your assigned teacher and do your homework before you go to play outside." I explain.
"Outside! Yay!" Taylor smiles. Tiana puts on her seatbelt along with Taylor's. I could tell it had been a long weekend for them both. You could see it on their face.
As I drove to the complex, my phone starts ringing in my purse. It was the detective from the case calling me.
Detective Hanson: Hello Ms.Johnson. Just wanted to give you a call about the girls. Is it possible that they could come down to the station later this week?
Krissy: Hi detective. The station is about four hours away from where we are now. With school, I'm unsure if that would be feasible. Would that exactly be necessary? Can I ask why the station?
Detective Hanson: Well, this has been a huge case. Finding the girls is a huge breakthrough. They technically still belongs to their father. He's been notified that they've been found.
Krissy: So you want to give them back to the man that hurt them?I try to talk as quiet as possible so the girls wouldn't hear me.
Detective Hanson: Respectfully mam. We don't have any proof the girls were being abused.
Krissy: Sir, respectfully absolutely not. The only way we are going to that station is if the girls can vouch to say that they were getting abused and that's why they wanted out. The details on the case weren't even clear. The name and age range of both girls were confused. This man doesn't even know his own kids! There's no way you're giving them back to that man. I'm going to call my lawyer back and give her your number. You can then discuss this further with her and we'll be in touch. Thank you.I end the call and shoot Aliyah a text along with the contact number. That man had lost his mind.
"Is everything okay?" Tiana asks leaning forward.
"Yes. We're almost there." I reassure her.Arriving at the complex, Keith was standing outside talking to a parent. The parent looked young though and she was gorgeous.
"We're here." Taylor says happily. She had so much energy to just have had a full day of school. I loved it.
Taylor and Tiana get out of the car. I grab my bags and we walk towards the front door. The parent walks in the building as Keith approaches us with a smile.
Tiana instantly hides behind me.
I instantly felt so bad. She was so anxious around new environments. Men probably made it even worse."Hey Keith. This is Taylor and Tiana. The beautiful girls I told you about earlier."
"Hey Taylor and Tiana. You excited?"
"Yes!" Taylor smiles hugging Keith.I smiled at the sight.
"I'm glad to hear that. We have some good snacks waiting for you."
