"I can't believe he didn't tell me about the wedding of my two favourite teachers, that punk."
Sana snickered, eyeing Shrest who winced.
"I really did forget to tell. We weren't in contact that entire two months."
"And who's fault was that?"
Shrest averted his eyes and resumed cooking.
"You two never told me what happened between you. Why did you two fight?"
There was silence on line. Sana sent a questioning look at Shrest, who said nothing in response.
"It was like this..." Vihan finally began. "I went to visit him at Shaher Uni. I was sitting there, all excited to see my dear friend again. Then, the bastard came."
Sana had already begun laughing.
" 'Why did you come here? Don't you know I'm busy?' That's what he says to the friend he hasn't seen in a year. I got furious. I caught a flight back and went home."
"And you didn't do anything else other than go straight back home?"
"....I poured paint over his empty canvas and then left."
Sana burst out laughing. "One wack in the head would have sufficed for his majesty."
Shrest sent her a mock glare. She gave one in return.
"Alright, alright. The past is the past. I'll talk to you later. Sana, your sister is too demanding."
Sana laughed again. "You were the one who chose to do the assignment with her. I warned you."
Vihan groaned, eliciting more snickers from her.
"Alright, I'll hang up."
"Okay."
Sana glanced at the plate being served to her. Omelets and bread with french fries. "Thank you. We'll get the interview done in the morning itself. I only have 4 questions left."
Shrest nodded. "This is about the upcoming one, yes?"
Sana nodded. "After we're done, you need to discuss with the Mrs. Shetty about how you want the coverage done for the magazine. If you want ads, we can add that in the magazine and newspaper too."
Shrest munched on his food, "What are your plans after the interview is done?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Why can't I ask?"
Sana had no response to that. "I don't have any plans. I plan on lazing around at home."
Shrest contemplated it. "Then...shall we watch a movie? I happen to have some free time."
"Depends on which movie. If you're ok with watching horror-"
"No."
Sana let out a breathy laugh. "And you say you aren't afraid of it."
"I'm not. Don't laugh. I'm really not. I just don't have a...taste for it."
"Alright. You don't have a taste for horror. Then, what do you want to watch?"
"I was thinking we could watch the sequel to 12 days in Bundok."
Sana's eyes widened in recognition. "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to watch that. Let's watch that after we wrap up the interview."
The interview was over pretty quickly. The last few questions were not very interesting. More along the lines of the plan for the upcoming exhibition which was still not completely decided.
Once they were done, Sana switched on the TV while Shrest prepared popcorn.
"It's there on movieflix, like you said."
"Cool. Give me a minute. The popcorn is ready."
Sana pulled out her phone, texting Mrs. Shetty.
Sana: Is there a way I can get some more pages for my column? I want to write an introduction for the interview.
She placed her phone down. Within minutes, she got her answer.
Shetty: Sure.
The two watched their movie. Unconsciously, Sana snuggled with Shrest on the sofa. Her head rested against his shoulder and her body leaned against his.
Shrest, acutely aware of the developments, resisted the broad grin on his face but failed. Sana, meanwhile, had fallen asleep.
After an hour, he began hearing rumblings and soft snoring. He switched off the TV and picked her up in a princess carry, taking her into her room.
After he gently tucked her into bed, he crouched and gazed at her face.
"Who gave you the right to look so pretty?" He let out a resigned, helpless sigh.
After a moment, he rubbed his red neck and closed the door behind him.
In the dark, Sana's phone lit up with a message.
Mum: Come home tomorrow...Raju wants to meet you and Mani.
