Amanda and Brenda

Amanda and Brenda arrived at the parking garage for the apartment building that Amanda resided in. Amanda hurried out the driver seat and rushed over to the elevator, "I'm on the third floor at the far end." Hearing the focus in her voice, Brenda rushed to join her.

"Power in numbers, lets stick together and pay close attention to the doors." Brenda stated as the elevator doors opened to reveal blood smears on the walls. "Oh Jesus, maybe we take the stairs."

"No, this is the fastest way, we can take the sight of blood, right?" Amanda looked over at Brenda and checked for agreeance. "Just be ready when the third floor opens up, just in case."

"Right, let's go."

The elevator smelled of metal, and it took what seemed like an hour to reach the third floor. When the doors opened, the women were surprised when the halls looked empty and clean. The door at the end of the hall was wide open though. That made Amanda worry, she sprinted towards her apartment and busted through the doorway. "Josiah!" Amanda had panic in her voice and Brenda could hear it.

"Does it seem like someone broke in or did he leave on his own?" asked Brenda scanning the den and dining area. "Look, here is a note with Mom written on it." She picked it up off the table and handed it over. Amanda took a look at the note and said a curse that Brenda almost couldn't hear.

"Josiah says he went to get his girlfriend Elana. She lives about three blocks away I think."

They grabbed up a few supplies and something to use as weapons before closing the door to the apartment and locking it up. They fled down the hall and back into the elevator, hoping to  reach the parking garage as quickly as possible and with no obstacles. However, as soon as the doors opened for the garage, someone barged on covered in blood and begging for mercy.

"Please, help me. I was attacked by some crazed woman as soon as I stepped out of my car." It was the man that lived three doors down from Amanda. His sharp business suit was torn at the shoulders and his shoes were covered in a black tinted goop. His once gorgeous blonde hair was covered in dirt and traces of blood and black goop. His skin had lightened to a pasty complexion and he had dark circles under his once bright green eyes.

"Were you bitten?" asked Amanda, grabbing him to steady him.

"What? No, she just grabbed me and tried to tear my limbs apart." he choked on those last words.

"Then where did all of this blood come from and why are pale?" asked Brenda.

"I've been working three days straight and couldn't sleep well or eat good. I can feel my body starting to shut down."

Brenda looked around the garage and couldn't find another soul in sight. "Looks like the lady is gone, lets get to the car fast."

"Agreed, come on, its not safe to be alone." Amanda helped her neighbor walk to her car.

"Where are we going?" asked the man.

"To find my son and get the hell out of dodge." replied Amanda.

"Oh, well here," he tossed his keys to Brenda "my car is just over there. A black BMW hatchback. I don't want to leave it here with the doors wide open. Can you drive it?"

"Um sure." Brenda helped him settle in the backseat before heading to his car to follow behind them. Amanda led the way from the parking garage and into the following neighborhoods, searching for Josiah along the way. It was quiet for the most part, however a few families could be seen packing up luggage and getting ready to flee this current pandemic.
